one thing i that you're using it another thing to sort of officially declare it as supported. 
In this particular case - do you need the icon in user portal? If not you can just go ahead and drop in your own property file into /etc/ovirt-engine/osinfo.conf/ (I think) with those few lines for Debian (or anything else) and you're all set. Just remove it on upgrade to 3.5
