Default is always created. Normal setups start with just it, and others can be created if needed. 

local_datacenter is all-in-one-specific - you were asked about it during setup - name, location etc. 
It's "local" in that it uses a local directory on the host, so VMs on it cannot be migrated to other 
hosts if/when you add them.
