looks like you hit Bug 1145728 - change cd fail on 'Drive is not a vdsm image'
can you please verify that by trying to change cd without json-rpc?
(should be something like: move host to maintenance, edit, unmark json-rpc)

this might be another blocker for ovirt 3.5, if we use json-rpc by default
