Hosted-engine is a special case: it has a lot of advantages but it also has a few differences from a standard deployment.
As you stated, there are some advantages deploying hosted-engine hosts from the webUI and we are working for that, unfortunately it's not available in 3.5 but we are working hard to get it in 3.6.
