As someone who has used the API for a multi tenancy situation I *know*
that the unique VM name contraint is very limiting. We ended up
restorting to giving all VMs a vmSOMEHASH name and storing the actual
names our customers wanted in the description field. This meant trading
in the ability to search for VM names but gave us the freedom we needed.
Now I haven't used the API with disks but I know our users generally
don't care about the names their drives have. However, I realise that
when you have detached disks they should be recognizable but can't you
enforce that when they're being detached? And with shared disks it might
be sufficient to show 'shared with VM X, Y and Z'.
