Yes, in general augeas can be a solution to this, but I
also don't know about it's state regarding multipath support
but it could be worth investigating.

Anyway if we want to pursue the current method I think that parsing,
commenting and editing multipath.conf automatically is harder than
libvirt.conf (e.g. it contains sections, etc.)
