Also,I don't see a link on the site for a release candidate.
Is there one available so the release can be evaluated/tested before deciding on the
go/no-go?

Since this is our first release, we're still trying to produce a formal
release process.
Although we didn't talk about a formal release vote, that sounds like
the general intention of the go/no go meeting.
I'll send a separate mail about a formal RC.
