All:
One of the long-standing requests in the oVirt community is the merging of the [arch] and [engine-devel] mailing lists. This note is an announcement that on Monday, March 31, this will get done.
What will happen:
1) Subscribers from [arch] and [engine-devel] will be migrated to a new [devel] list. 2) Archives from [arch] (this list) will be left as is, and available for searching on the list.ovirt.org/mailman site. 3) Archived from [engine-devel] will be renamed to [devel]
Can we rename [devel] prefix to [ovirt-devel], it is confusing with other lists. Same I guess to any ovirt list.
Thanks!
If you have any comments or concerns, let me know.
Thank you for your patience in this matter, Brian

I think this makes sense (though i personally use folders). i'll give it a day or two for any objections before changing (users and devel would be the priority i think)

As I got no response, so I will try to explain using two arguments... 1. People that subscribe to announce usually have no filters as it is low traffic, so it is ovirt prefix should be added to differentiate from other activity. 2. Consistency... important for engineering and for professional appearance. Exceptions should have good reason. There is no good reason why not all ovirt mailing list share the same prefix, easier to search, comfortable as eye catcher etc. Not sure what your argument not to have plain consistent prefix for all. I would like to emphasis the obvious move that is long overdue to host all lists at ovirt.org[1], the share of experience of people is important, I still do not understand why we do not use our human resources and experience to understand how to improve. This applies to mailing list, our site organization, our bug management, our release engineering, which still do not line up with best practises.
