Missing rpm dependency

Hi, It seems a dependency for "tar" is missing in Fedora 20. This issue has already been fixed on Fedora 19(See https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=986539#c1 for details) But it seems It made a comeback on Fedora 20. Who is in charge for the dependencies on oVirt and can check it out? Thanks, Tomer

why is this issue/bug related to ovirt?

Because It seems this issue has been around since Fedora 19. I came across it when trying to setup a new host on my oVirt. That problem persists when clicking "reinstall" on a host in oVirt(That's exactly what a user would do if the installation fails from the first place). That's why I think we ought to come out with a solution to this problem on oVirt. It's important for oVirt to have a hands-off host setup policy. Hi, This is a different issue. The fedora minimal has no tar per default. And we need to transfer set of files from manager to host, this is prior we know what host it is and what we need to perform. Transferring the file is using tar, so tar should exist on host prior of deploy. Only after files are extracted yum/rpms are used, so adding tar as dependency will have no effect. I hope it answers your question. Regards, Alon ----- Original Message -----

Hi,
This is a different issue.
Just to give a few pointers for people wishing to go over the endless discussions again: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/986882 - tar which is used by host-deploy is missing from fedora minimal installation http://lists.ovirt.org/pipermail/devel/2013-July/005215.html - start of a discussion http://gerrit.ovirt.org/17295 - host-deploy: use pyar instead of tar (still pending...) http://gerrit.ovirt.org/17396 - host-deploy: use cpio instead of tar for bundle transfer (abandoned in favor of pyar)
Regards, Alon
