Looks like your host is using cgroups to control the resources usage by the users, and I'm not sure (because I've never used cgroup with virtualization before), but I guess your VM was set to use more memory than configured to memory cgroup subsystem. Try to check if your system is using cgroup and, if so, check the configuration.
