Got a running self hosted install with VMs running on the host, now adding a second host to get ha for the engine & VMs. Do I need to put the engine into maintenance mode before running hosted-engine --deploy on new host node?
No, it's not explicitly needed. The HA for the engine VM is ensured by the oVirt HA agent on each host. HA for other VMs can be ensured by the engine if needed.
