oVirt Node 4.5.5 no virtualization tab

I have installed 4.5.5 and can get to the Web Interface at :9090 on all 3. I have been able to add the SSH keys and from any of the 3 hosts web interface I can get to the others from the drop down. But there is no Virtualization Tab on any of the 3, so no way to create VM's. I have followed a few instructions from some threads I've found on here https://www.ovirt.org/dropped/gluster-hyperconverged/chap-Deploying_Hypercon... I subscribed all 3 hosts to the repo, and installed the engine, but the cockpit-ovirt-dashboard doesn't exist to install, and I'm guessing that's where I will find what I need to make this usable. Any help would be appreciated.

are you using centos-9 stream? apparently centos-9 stream base ovirt seems doesn't provide cockpit-ovirt-dashboard in their repository packages. at least for now (afaik). you need to perform manual deployment start from glusterfs replication and hosted engine deployment

No I downloaded the oVirt Node 4.5 ISO and installed from that. My understanding is the oVirt Node os is centos based but it's not the full centos-9 stream install and is supposed to have everything for a single node or for a Hyperconverged cluster. Without any cluster configured, each individual node should still be capable of creating and hosting VM's, yet there is no evident means of even something as basic as creating a VM. As near as I can tell, the cockpit-overt-dashboard is the web interface that is located at :9090 on the node itself. Those WebUI's load and provide a bit of information, with different tabs on the left, but there is no tab for Virtualization. I don't see any way to attach screenshots or I'd post a few so everyone could see what I'm seeing. Something is definitely missing. If anyone has a better method of installation for a 3 node cluster please let me know. I'm perfectly fine with starting over on the installs.

Clearly something is missing from this installation. All of the basic descriptions, screen shots and YouTube videos even of older versions show a simple interface where VM's can be created and managed like you would expect with any hypervisor. I have a Web Interface with several different tabs, but there is no means to even create a VM. If Choose Help and About it reports: Web Console Cockpit 305 cockpit-bridge 305 cockpit-system 305 cockpit-ws 305 On the left hand side I have a vertical explorer, at the top is a drop-down list with my 3 nodes I can select from; Next is a search box then System (not clickable just a heading with 5 sub items) Overview Logs Networking Accounts Services Then Tools (not clickable just a heading with 4 sub items) Diagnostic Reports Kernel Dump SELinux Terminal Any help is appreciated. If anyone knows of another discussion forum that I might peruse please let me know.

If I remember correctly, the cockpit module to install self-hosted engine graphically has been deprecated since at least 4.4 (but for sure in 4.5) Since then, the cockpit interface is only useful to prepare the gluster bricks. But note that gluster and hyperconverged self hosted engine are also deprecated nowadays (still functional though). the proper and supported way to install a self-hosted ovirt engine from an ovirt node is through the command line, as per the documentation : https://www.ovirt.org/documentation/installing_ovirt_as_a_self-hosted_engine... It's a bit involved, read everything from the whole doc and prepare well. good luck! On Tue, Sep 24, 2024 at 4:31 PM arkansascontrols--- via Users < users@ovirt.org> wrote:
