[Users] New website live! Feedback welcome

Hi everyone, The new oVirt website is now live! http://www.ovirt.org We have made some changes to the infrastructure (the website is now running on MediaWiki: http://www.mediawiki.org on Red Hat's Platform as a Service offering OpenShift: https://openshift.redhat.com) and also to the look and feel. There is a new theme, designed and laid out by Garrett Lesage, some new content to discover, and best of all, since the entire website is now a wiki, it will be much easier to maintain over time. We have been careful to ensure that all of the old website links redirect to appropriate pages on the new site. If you find any dead links, or redirects which do not make sense, please let us know! And as the site has had limited exposure up to this point, we are happy to hear your feedback on things you like, and things we can improve. Thank you all for your support, assistance and understanding throughout this process! Regards, Dave. -- Dave Neary - Community Action and Impact Open Source and Standards, Red Hat - http://community.redhat.com Ph: +33 9 50 71 55 62 / Cell: +33 6 77 01 92 13

This is really awesome! Just yesterday I was looking at gluster's page and thinking to myself that we could use some changes... But this easily surpasses my expectations. Congratulations on a very well done work! ----- Original Message -----

Hi Dave, Wicked awesome ;) Looks so much better now. There are a few things I'm missing which may further improve the site; - In the community page, a section called (something in the spirit of) "Getting Help", which routes the users to the irc and users' list is much needed. It can even be one of the menu items in the main tool-bar. - The documentation page rightfully embeds 2 youtube clips. I think we can add a section for the youtube ovirt area, as these clips are documenting some of our features. We got several feedbacks that the clips are very helpful for understanding some of the concepts. - Going forward a forum would be nice, but need to see how it integrates with the lists. Possibly limit it to users forum? Thanks again! Doron

The site looks amazing! I'm a huge fan of Mediawiki, but have yet to see a site with that design / layout. Would you mind enlightening me as to what was used to produce a site that looks little like a typical Mediawiki instance? - Trey

The theme is based on the Bootstrap framework from Twitter, so we inherit all of the layout options from there. Garrett Lesage worked hard to ensure that we also themed the tools sidebar to be unobtrusive when you're logged in, to remain harmonious with the default theme, while still being a wiki. The theme will be published very soon, it was done in a way which allows it to be generic, and so useful for other MediaWiki instances also. Thanks for the praise! Great new look and I love how everything is organized. Thanks for doing this! I have one suggestion which you probably are already working on. When the oVirt on a stick project is ready, I would love to see it featured prominently at the top of the downloads page. On Fri, Nov 30, 2012 at 01:18:59PM +0100, Dave Neary wrote:
