Grafana oVirt 4.4.4 Node install - Grafana Monitoring Portal not available

Having installed oVirt 4.4.4 HCI 3 node cluster, the Grafana 'Monitoring Portal' was not visible on the Default page. It appears that Grafana is installed but not configured. I have checked a 4.4.3 environment and it is installed and running, so is this a bug with 4.4.4.7-1.el8? Any help would be appreciated.

Hi, Please check/share relevant logs - everything under /var/log/ovirt/engine/ , /var/log/grafana/ , /var/log/httpd/ . Thanks and best regards, On Mon, Jan 25, 2021 at 7:22 PM <simon@justconnect.ie> wrote:

Based on the logs you sent, and this is just a guess, it seems like you manually tried to start grafana before configuring it via engine-setup, right? This causes it to create its database, and some places in the engine-setup code have a condition to do stuff only if the db is missing - with the assumption that if the user already created it somehow, we shouldn't mess around with it. If I am correct, you can try: 1. Remove or rename /var/lib/grafana/grafana.db 2. Run engine-setup again (can be with --offline, if you want to prevent an upgrade) Just in case, backup all of /etc beforehand so that you can compare and see what it changed. Good luck and best regards, -- Didi

Thanks Didi, When the Monitoring Portal wasn't available I started grafana-server.service hoping that would be the issue. I've followed your instructions and it's working perfectly now. Many thanks for your speedy response. Kind Regards Simon...

Thanks for the report! You might want to open a bug/RFE about this. Not sure exactly what it should say. Perhaps something like: If grafana is not configured, and the user replies 'yes' to 'Configure grafana?', and the grafana db already exists, notify prompt the user asking what to do (Abort, Remove the db, continue without touching grafana, continue but revert the previous 'yes' to 'no') Perhaps we should do the check beforehand and present the different options on the 'Configure grafana?' question, not sure which is best. Adding Shirly. Best regards, -- Didi

Hello, I had exactly the same problem. I Started the grafana service before setting it up with engine-setup on a Hosted Engine. and was unable to get to the login page. I followed the proposed workaround : stopped grafana, removed /var/lib/grafana/grafana.db and ran engine-setup --reconfigure-optional-components again I can no log into grafana with admin user, but there is no pre installed dashboard or data sources available.

"can no log", or "can log"? If former, can't understand the next part of your sentence. Please check/share the log of engine-setup, grafana log, rpm -Vv ovirt-engine-dwh. Thanks and best regards, -- Didi
