On the Cisco site I found: http://www.cisco.com/web/learning/le21/le34/academy/2011/index.html#~costs For a previous event they used the Fairmount San Jose and got a discount and also setup free transportation to the campus...
The Fairmont is ~9 miles from Cisco; being right nearby, on the light rail, seems like it would be a better idea to me. Yes, Cisco provided free transportation, but it was free to attendees, and not necessarily free to Cisco :) Of course, this is subject to room availability - the Hyatt Santa Clara seems to already be sold out/booked, as do a few others in the area....

Itamar:
I just booked travel for myself, and I found that some hotels are already booked that week. Travel to the valley is booming again, I guess.
I booked at the below hotel, which has worked well for me in the past:
HILTON SANTA CLARA (HILTON HOTELS) 4949 GREAT AMERICA PARKWAY SANTA CLARA CA 95054 Phone 1-408-330-0001 Fax 1-408-562-6736
It's only a few miles from the Cisco campus, and there is even light rail access down Tasman if people need that as well. But if others have opinions regarding the hotel, please chime in. I am not aware of a group discount at this hotel, but maybe if enough folks are registering, we could get one.
Thanks, Kyle

Can we arrange with a hotel adjacent to the workshop for group pricing (or maybe cisco already has one)?
would be nice if most would stay in same hotel, and reduce costs
