Just catching up on this ..
virt-v2v now supports OVA imports, and it works pretty well. Please
make sure you use the new version, available here:
https://www.redhat.com/archives/libguestfs/2014-May/msg00090.html
or in Fedora >= 21 or Debian experimental.
