Hi,
oVirt 3.6.1 RC4 included latest bits allowing to auto import Hosted Engine
storage domain within the Engine.
In order to have a wider coverage of the Hosted Engine workflow we've
scheduled a Hosted Engine test day for next week
on Monday, December 14th.
Please join us testing Hosted Engine with oVirt 3.6.1 RC4, both on a clean
install and on an upgrade from 3.5 flow.

The hosted-engine-setup part worked for me. But activating the host which
was added by engine-setup failed. After the host was added to the cluster I
saw that it was in 'Non Operational' state.
Searching the logs I found
Message: Host hosted_engine_1 does not comply with the cluster
Default
emulated machines. The current cluster compatibility level supports
[pc-i440fx-rhel7.2.0, pc-i440fx-2.1, pseries-rhel7.2.0] and the host
emulated machines are
pc-i440fx-rhel7.1.0,rhel6.3.0,pc-q35-rhel7.0.0,rhel6.1.0,rhel6.6.0,
rhel6.2.0,pc,pc-q35-rhel7.1.0,q35,rhel6.4.0,rhel6.0.0,rhel6.5.0,pc-i440fx-rhel7.0.0.
My host is RHEL 7.1. After I tried to klick 'Reset emulated machines' on
the default cluster, the engine tried to activate the host but failed with
the following SQL exception on the AddExistingFileStorageDomainCommand:

New subject: [ovirt-users] [QE] oVirt 3.6.1 Hosted Engine test day
Hi,
I redid a new deploy of hosted-engine setup:
- one hypervisor 8Gb
- NFS4 for storage: vm_engine + data + iso + export
- hosted-engine : 2Gb
- FC22 for both hypervior and the vm engine
- All OS updated
- I am using ovirt 3.6 pre + 3.6 snapshot
The installation went smoothly.
After adding the first Data domain, the engine tried to import the
hosted-storage, but couldn't activate it
I detached the hosted-storage, then I removed it, the engine re-imported it
again, this time with success, I could activate it, and voila the VM engine
showed up on the webui..... but
I couldn't edit the VM engine, I tried add a new nic card, when I click OK
to submit the change :
First I got the error : Cannot set single display to non Linux operating
system.
the VM engine OS was set to OtherOS on webui, since there no FC22 on the
list, I selected Linux, the error disappeared, but then I got another error.
When I try to modify the engine's properties, I get "Cannot edit Virtual
Machine Disk, The VM is not managed by the engine"

Our intention is first to support editing cpu type and memory. Adding nicks
and disks will probably follow. What provisioning actions would you like to

Thanks for the reply,
I think, as you said, changing memory + cpu is more important, and adding
nic cards would be nice, especially to load iso images, so we don't have to
link the storage to the management network. we just add a new nic card to
the VM engine on the storage network and that's it.
Another thing, I installed a test VM, Centos 7x64 with all updates (7.2) ,
I installed the ovirt-guest-agent, I tried to change cpu and memory on the
fly, the first worked the second didn't.
I tried to change the emulation from pc-i440fx-2.1 to pc-i440fx-2.3 but
without luck

Ok thx, after updating qemu on the host I could activate it. Should not the
first host determine which emulated machines are supported in the cluster?

is it ok to test installing the engine VM of SelfHostedEngine from the ova?
Because trying to install it gives a release apparently dated 20151104
Installing:

ovirt-3.6-pre 266 k
or is it not important because what preinstalled inside the ova is not
correlated with the engine bits themselves that are going to be installed

You can use the released appliance but you'll need to manually update it.
We have a nightly built appliance available in jenkins, waiting fabian for
releasing it with RC4 rpms included.

BTW I was able to add an NFS storage domain and ISO storage domain at the
moment to the single host.
When adding the NFS domain I got in events pane:
Storage Domain NFS was added by admin@internal
Data Center is being initialized, please wait for initialization to
complete.
Storage Pool Manager runs on Host hosted_engine_1 (Address:
ovc71.localdomain.local).
and then
This Data center compatibility version does not support importing a data
domain with its entities (VMs and Templates). The imported domain will be
imported without them.
and then
Storage Domain NFS (Data Center Default) was activated by admin@internal
Storage Domains were attached to Data Center Default by admin@internal
Storage Domain NFS was attached to Data Center Default by admin@internal
Is the compatibility message only iformative, to be shown also when you add
(and don't import), or is a messge related to the datacenter itself, as
with the forst data domain I'm going to activate the DC too..?

I guess those are failed attempts to import the hosted engine SD.
First run
*select * from business_entity_snapshot ;*
The *command_type* should match the output you got during setup (and you
should have 3 records). If you want to double check then paste the output
here before proceeding.
And then you can:
*delete from business_entity_snapshot ;*
@Sandro I would expect to have a "clean" action for those tasks?
@Tal why the compensation table isn't clean after rollback of failed
attempt to import a domain
I am stuck ...!!!
