And what about the initial request the user sent? Was it accepted and subscribed to the mailing list or does he need to send another request? I tried be verify this myself, but probably lack permissions. Thanks.

should work now, I've updated the settings so anyone can sign up.
[~ederevea] [~amarchuk] this means that if bot users sigh up we'll need to be more mindful and remove such users in the future or re-add restriction to specific domains.

I know hyper kitty has some bugs and maybe not all features are enabled there.
It does show other threads like "most active" or "recently active" ( see screenshot).
Duck, can you check if this is a bug on hyper kitty or just configuration option?
