updating gerrit to 2.3
by Itamar Heim
I'm planning to upgrade gerrit to version 2.3 on Sunday.
will send an email before and after the downtime.
plan is to upgrade to "clean" version of 2.3, and after we see
everything is working ok, upgrade it with the patch for better emails.
thoughts/comments?
Thanks,
Itamar

by Eyal Edri
Can we get another VM from amazon running fedora 17?
Or reinstall one of the existing rhel 6.2 ones as f17..
Eyal.

oVirt Forum Pilot
by Barry Kostjens
Hi Guys,
I made a suggestion to Doron Fediuck for setting up a ovirt forum pilot which might deprecate the users list in the future.
The mailing list with its quotes is not easy to read, I myself prefer a forum and I think a lot of people with me.
A forum could be spillted in several different subjects ea: ovirt-enige, ovrit-node, networking, storage etc etc.
Also a forum is much easier to browse (imho) than the mailing list.
If you guys agree I can setup and host an (opensource php based) forum for free, at first running alongside the mailing list as a pilot.
What do you guys think about this?
Thanks for your comments,
Barry Kostjens.

mailman-subscriber-count
by Karsten 'quaid' Wade
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----
Hash: SHA1
I wrote a generic script for keeping a running count of all the
subscribers on all the lists on a Mailman server. It is written to be
run as e.g. a cronjob directly on the Mailman server. It updates a set
of CSV files with data each day.
https://github.com/quaid/mailman-subscriber-count
For lists.ovirt.org, it's currently set to run at 12:45 am each day,
and puts output in to individual CSV files in /root/mailman-data/.
This first variation on the script also does a count of the
subscribers who are @redhat.com. The script can be hacked for counting
other domains, but is only written to be hardcoded for the
domain-specific subscribers.
I'm sure there are many better ways to do this, and there may even be
other tools that do this. I was struck with a clear vision of how to
do this in bash and wanted to make that happen, even if I'm
reinventing some wheels here. It's really nothing special, but it was
fun to get it working right. If anyone wants to show me how to do it
better, or reimplement it in a better scripting language, patches and
pull-requests are welcome.

[RFC] Telling the world: What about planet.ovirt.org?
by Fabian Deutsch
--=-uKPwA1a0aSvYFRcP03i9
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="UTF-8"
Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable
Good day,
planets [1] are nice way to aggregate blog posts - and to give the user
or interested human out there a way to get some insight into the
development and usage of oVirt.
So, what do you thinkg about offering our own planet.ovirt.org?
Besides some infrastructure this needs some people to write about what
they are doing.
If we were just aggregating existing blogs this might not be to much
work to get a planet up and running.
There are a couple of things to consider:
- Who could contribute to this planet?
- Very oVirt centric? So, just aggregating posts that are tagged with =20
contain a specific keyword, or even moderated?
Greetings
fabian

engine-commits mailing list
by Itamar Heim
the mailing list has been here for a while, but wasn't active.
it is now listening on all 'submitted' changes of engine related projects.
so this is an easy way to track the changes pushed, without the
discussions around them.

lists.ovirt.org should be redirected to /mailman

Hey,
I am Fabian, new to this list and developing on oVirt (Node).
Today I noticed that lists.ovirt.org is redirecting the users to the
main ovirt page, it would be nice (and somewhat meeting expectations) if
lists.ovirt.org was pointing to lists.ovirt.org/mailman

Suggestion
by Barry Kostjens
Hello,
I would like to suggest the setup of a forum dedicate to support ovirt.
I think forums are a lot user friendly than mailing lists, and a lot of ovirt users would be happy to use forums / dig them for info.
Thanks a lot.
With kind regards, / Met vriendelijke groet,
