Hi all. I'd like to ask if it's possible to install an Etherpad instance for ovirt dev's and users? In the SFO workshop there was an instance provided by Ubuntu, but unsure if we can access it now. Having etherpad.ovirt.org will make some of the discussions mush easier, since we can actually collaborate on it. Also, it seems to be better than wiki for ad-hoc matters. Thanks! Agreed about data source. I recommend we make it a policy that nothing "lives" on the Etherpad. When something is finished, the contents have to be copied to a wiki page for real permanence. (Etherpad doesn't seem to have a great content search feature, so if you lose a URL you might lose the content.)

The one of two times i have used etherpad it cashed and lost data. It seems to be some kind mult-user data entry system but what makes it better then other system designed to for that? Thanks Robert

Next time we're working on something, I'll pull it up so you can get a better experience than your crashes. :) It sets the standard for slim and useful realtime shared editing. (The playback feature is cool, too - it has built-in revision history that you can playback at fast-forward speed.) I've used it hundreds of times to write notes together during a meeting, to work on any manner of different documents, etc. One good use case - MediaWiki is terrible for concurrent editing, unless you are clearly in different sections. Any overlap or mistake, and one editor loses out. 2. Where can the work be done? I'm happy to request etherpad.ovirt.org be pointed at linode01.ovirt.org, which can probably handle the load. But I'm not sure about that - it might have more resource requirements than we can give. Thus answers are tied in with the open need for new hosting, and the open question of who is doing what. Ah, great, now we have a situation where we can solve the Etherpad need and also give Moran some work to do to show his skills, etc. for the team. How about if we give Moran straight ssh access without sudo. He'll look around and figure out what needs to be done to get Etherpad going, then work with a mentor to make it happen.
