Regression? internal error NUMA memory tuning in 'preferred' mode only supports single node.
by Daniel Helgenberger
Hello,
on my 'converted' cluster from 3.4 to 3.5 I cannot run any of my Windows
VMs any more witch where existing also in 3.4. I get:
internal error NUMA memory tuning in 'preferred' mode only supports
single node.
The problem: NUMA is not enabled on that VM. However, if I enable NUMA
and pin it to a node, then the VM runs...

Template Clone/Independent vs Thin/Dependent
by Shanil S
Hi,
I am using the ovirt 3.5 and when i create VM from the template through
Ovirt web portal, it displays Template is "Clone/Independent"but with the
same template When i create through REST API, it shows "Thin/Dependent"...
I Found one email thread (
https://www.mail-archive.com/users@ovirt.org/msg21271.html ) from the
community for the same issue but even using their method still it display
the same "Thin/Dependent".
I am using the following xml :-
<vm>
<name>$name</name>
<cluster>
<name>phase1</name>
</cluster>
<cpu>
<topology cores='$core' sockets='$socket'/>
</cpu>
<memory>$memory</memory>
<template>
<name>$templatetype</name>
</template>
<disks>
<clone>true</clone>
</disks>
</vm>
I have attached the screen shots , please check it.

I'm having a very strange issue on (some) VDSM hosts.
Host is going down and VM's cannot find disk while booting, what do my
logs show:
vdsmd_init_common.sh: libvirt: Network Driver error : Network not
found: no network with matching name 'vdsm-NETNAME'
When it see this, all networks are brought down it seems.
Anyone seeing this and knows why this happens ?

Change password using ovrt api is not working
by Shanil S
Hi,
Currently i have updated the ovirt version to 3.5 and after that the reset
password using api is not working but there isn't any errors returned. The
following xml is i used for the reset password and it was working with the
previous version
<action>
<vm>
<os>
<boot dev='cdrom'/>
</os>
<initialization>
<cloud_init>
<users>
<user>
<user_name>root</user_name>
<password>$newpass</password>
</user>
</users>
</cloud_init>
</initialization>
</vm>
</action>
Could you please have a look at the above xml ? Is there anything modified
in the new version ?
The reset password is working fine from the ovirt admin panel and the issue
is only when we use the ovirt api to reset the password.

Upgrading all-in-one 3.4.4 to 3.5 on fedora 19
by Gianluca Cecchi
Hello,
I have an all-in-one 3.4.4 installation on F19.
Currently my network config under /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts:
$ cat ifcfg-ovirtmgmt
DEVICE=ovirtmgmt
ONBOOT=yes
TYPE=Bridge
DELAY=0
IPADDR=192.168.1.101
NETMASK=255.255.255.0
GATEWAY=192.168.1.1
BOOTPROTO=none
NM_CONTROLLED=no
$ cat ifcfg-p10p1
DEVICE=p10p1
ONBOOT=yes
HWADDR=90:e6:ba:c9:f1:e1
BRIDGE=ovirtmgmt
NM_CONTROLLED=no
If I upgrade to 3.5.0 would it convert into the new default network unified
persistence or should I keep
net_persistence = ifcfg
in my vdsm.conf for all-in-one installations?
Will NetworkManager still kept off after upgrade?
I suppose vnic profiles that I use for natting some of the VMs, using
extnet vdsm hook will be preserved, correct?
Thanks in advance,
Gianluca

Hosted engine - not redefine iptables
by Finstrle, Ludek
<html><bodyHi,
I'm installing hosted engine oVirt 3.5 and I try to avoid iptables
changes from ovirt. I set OVEHOSTED_NETWORK/firewallManager=str:disable
and it's working during first phase of installation. The problem I see
is when the hosted node (physical host) is added into engine the
iptables changes for the ovirt node (physical host).
I'm using --config-append for both ovirt-hosted-engine-setup and
engine-setup also. Is there any way to suppress changing iptables rules
during the last phase (adding ovirt node into engine)?
I know there is check box during adding node from GUI (but I can't use
it for additional hosted node).
Thanks,
Luf
