[Users] [ANN][TechTalk] Two UI tech talks next week!
by Vojtech Szocs
Dear oVirt community,
next week is UI tech talk week! I've prepared two presentations:
1, oVirt JavaScript SDK (Design Proposal)
Monday, April 7 - 3pm CET / 9am EST / 4pm TLV time
2, Writing UI plugin with AngularJS
Tuesday, April 8 - 3pm CET / 9am EST / 4pm TLV time
Of these two, the first one is really important, as it covers
current proposal for oVirt JavaScript SDK including plans for
near future.
The second one is recommended for anyone who wants to learn
about oVirt UI plugins, AngularJS and how they fit together.
I'll send an invitation for both presentations shortly.
PDF slides will be available on day of presentation.
Regards,
Vojtech

this upgrade is from 3.3.4 to 3.4 i think. did you ever upgraded from
3.2 to 3.3? if yes then we need that upgrade log.
more directions - did you anytime override the osinfo files or added
some custom ones? please paste the content of
/etc/ovirt-engine/osinfo.conf.d and
/usr/share/ovirt-engine/conf/osinfo-defaults.properties
if non of this has relevant results than its totally safe to run the
script above mentioned [1]

[Users] VM satelit is down. Exit message: 'int' object has no attribute 'replace'.
by Gabi C
Hello!
3.3.3 migrated to latest stable 3.4.0
3 nodes F19
KVM Version:1.4.2 - 15.fc19
LIBVIRT Version:libvirt-1.0.5.9-1.fc19
VDSM Version:libvirt-1.0.5.9-1.fc19
oVirt Engine Version: 3.4.0-1.fc19
Upgraded took place with 3 Vm up and 2 down: first upgraded engine, then
after freeing one node at a time node of and updating it.
After upgrade when I try to run any of the 2 powered down machines, I get
"VM ......... is down. Exit message: 'int' object has no attribute
'replace'."
Any ideas?

[Users] virt-manager migration
by Jeremiah Jahn
Quick background:
I have a number of hosts already running SL6.5 and have been using
virt-manager with them for some time. All of the guests are by-id fiber
channel LUNs. I'm attempting to migrate from virt-manager to oVirt. I'll be
dropping my SAN array and migrating all of the LUNs to a gluster system,
which will be exporting the images to my blades over SCST or LIO. FC is
what i already have and won't saturate my network as opposed to trying to
use the 1Gbs network cards. Gluster is being used for redundancy and
geo-replication, but not image hosting to the hosts.
Anyway, long story short. I'm having a difficult time finding documentation
on migrating from virt-manager to oVirt. As well as installing ovirt-nodes
manually. I'd love to find this perfect world where I can just install the
ovirt-node RPMs on my already running Hosts and begin to have them managed
by the oVirt engine. Without and serious downtime.
Any suggestions or pointers to documentation would be great. Even comments
as to making this transition smoother or approaching it differently are
appreciated.
thanks,
-jj-

[Users] VM-List gone after upgrade to 3.4
by Stefan Wendler
Hi,
today I upgraded from 3.3.4 to 3.4 aus discribed in the release notes. Then
executed "engine-setup" which finished without error.
Though I can see the running VMs in the according tab on each node (Hosts ->
Node -> Tab: Virtual Machines) I don't see anything in the "Virtual Machines"
tab (System-> Virtual Machines). It just keeps loading forever. So currently I
cannot view any VM that just has been created or is stopped.
Is this a bug or did I miss something?
Cheers,
Stefan
