Ubuntu guest public template?
by Maksim Naumov
Hello Guys!
First of all, I would like to thank you for your amazing product. And I
have one question ;)
Do you have any plans to create guest ubuntu template in the public
repository? I am wondering because I had no chance to run clound_init -
there is too many errors.
Thank you

Community Newsflash: Local oVirt events
by Mikey Ariel
As a part of the community activities for 2016, I'm excited to share
with you that we'll be boosting local oVirt activities in a city near you!
===============================
What is a "local oVirt event"?
===============================
Local events include (but are not limited to) meetups, workshops, or
hackathons, focused on bringing oVirt users and contributors together to
share stories, celebrate milestones, learn something new, or collaborate
on oVirt projects.
We're also hoping to collaborate with other open-source user and
developer groups, much like our upcoming oVirt/Foreman meetup in London[1].
===============================
Where will these events happen?
===============================
Anywhere you are! oVirt is a global community and we're happy to support
our regional users and contributors all around the world.
Suggestions for cities where you'd like to see the oVirt community get
together and grow are welcome, but we need your help to make it happen!
===============================
How can we make it happen?
===============================
At the core of any local technology event is the local community. Sadly,
I am not yet omnipresent, so I probably won't be able to personally
organize or attend all of these wonderful future events.
If you would like to:
* Help to coordinate a meetup, workshop, or hackathon in your city
* Give a workshop or a talk about an oVirt-related topic at a local user
or developer group (cross-project integration sessions are especially
welcome!)
* Lead a sprint or hackfest on an oVirt project or task
* <your crazy and awesome idea here!>
Subscribe to events(a)ovirt.org[1] and introduce yourself. This list will
be used to brainstorm, coordinate, and discuss ideas for oVirt-related
events.
NOTE: Official event announcements will be made to
announce(a)ovirt.org[2], so if you just want to be notified of upcoming
events, you can subscribe to that list instead.
Looking forward to meeting you!
Mikey

upgrade to oVirt 3.6 and compabitibility 3.6
by Paul Groeneweg | Pazion
I have finished the upgrade to 3.6.
I received a lot (every 3 seconds ) of the following messages in the
logs after upgrading the hosts:
vdsm jsonrpc.JsonRpcServer ERROR Internal server error#012Traceback (most
recent call last):#012 File
"/usr/lib/python2.6/site-packages/yajsonrpc/__init__.py", line 501, in

"/usr/share/vdsm/rpc/Bridge.py", line 215, in _typeFixup#012 if k in
item:#012TypeError: argument of type 'NoneType' is not iterable
I restarted ovirt-ha-agent ovirt-ha-broker and vdsmd.
After I rebooted all hosts ( migrating VMS from one to another ) the
message finally disappeared.
Then I tried to set compatibility Version to 3.6, but without luck. I have
put hosted engine back in global maintenance, but I can't find out why it
fails. The message says "Error while executing action: Cannot change
Cluster Compatibility Version to higher version when there are active Hosts
with lower version.
-Please move Hosts with lower version to maintenance first."
I have installed ovirt-release36 on hosted engine and hosts.
I have updated hosted engine with engine-setup.
I ran yum update on all hosts.
What do I need to do to set compatibility version to 3.6?
And how can I enable repository for hosted engine? ( through WEB UI change
is not saved ).
Best Regards,
Paul Groeneweg

_initialize_sanlock cannot get lock, host already holds lock on a different host id
by Robert Story
--Sig_/.6C2e=H_BL1+iV=uP1v2/O5
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=US-ASCII
Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable
I'm running oVirt 3.5.x with a hosted engine. On 3 of my 5 nodes,
ovirt-ha-agent won't start, complaining that "(_initialize_sanlock) cannot
get lock on host id 5: host already holds lock on a different host id."
Running 'grep host_id /etc/ovirt-hosted-engine/hosted-engine.conf' on each
host shows that they all have different unique ids, 1-5.
How can I debug this? Is there a command I can run to see which host holds a
sanlock for each id?
