Storage Domain High Latency
by Alan Griffiths
Hi,
One of my hosts is periodically reporting high latency to a storage domain
(FC). There is almost no load on the SAN so the issue must be either fault,
mis-configuration or internal ovirt issue.
Can anyone enlighten me on how ovirt/vdsm goes about calculating the
storage latency? As I'm struggling to find anything in the logs.
Thanks,
Alan

Host keeps disconnecting
by Chris Cowley
Hello all
I am trying out ovirt 4 on a single host using the hosted engine. All
storage is on the same machine, with NFS3 in the middle.
Regularly the host disconnects from the engine - although all the VMs
continue working happily. I can re-activate it immediately and it will come
online happily, I can then manipulate VMs to my hearts content for a few
minutes until it disconnects again and I have to re-activate it.
First, am I being stupid trying to run this on a single node? Am I obliged
to at least break out the storage in to a seperate node/NAS
Second, assuming this is technically possible, where should I be looking
for clues?

I have windows vm and physical machine
On benchmark test CPU,HDD. VM cause more faster result than Physical(VM run=
ning on enterprise server, physical - simply laptop)
But 1 test failed.
I run bat script, which doing dummy incremental operation in loop.
<code>
@echo %time% start
@set /a lcount=3D0
@set /a lmax=3D199999
@set /a tst=3Dlmax+1
:lstart
@set /a lcount=3Dlcount+1
@if not %lcount%=3D=3D%lmax% goto lstart
@echo dummy|set /p dummy=3DDone looping %tst% times at
@echo %time% stop
</code>
And physical laptop faster than vm in 2x.
Why? How can I improve this test for vm?

Host in error state
by knarra
Hi All,
I am currently using ovirt master branch, having hosted-engine
setup with glusterfs as the storage domain. I launched some vms and try
to start them. VMs fails to start on two other hosts in the cluster and
both of them go into error state. why does the hosts go into error state ?
I see the following error in the vdsm logs on why the vm start
process fails.

VMware import, username with '.' not accepted
by Martijn Grendelman
Hi,
I'm trying to import a VM from VMware. On the "Import Virtual
Machine(s)" screen, my VCenter username is not accepted, because "Name
can only contain 'A-Z', 'a-z', '0-9', '_' or '-' characters" and it
contains a '.', which should be perfectly fine.
Now what?
Regards,
Martijn.

Non responsive vms, how to reconnect hosts
by andreas.ewert@cbc.de
Hi there,
currently our vms are in a non responsive state.
Due fibre channel storage problems every machine is tagged by a question mark.
Datacenter is in non operational mode.
Good news is that the machines are running. I verrified by „virsh list“ on the hypervisors.
I know if I reboot the hypervisors then the problem will be solved. But is there any other way to connect the hypervisor hosts to the datacenter?
Now storage problems are over and I already tried to restart the vdsm daemon … but no success. Do I really need to reboot the hosts?
OS Version of ovirt Hosts: Centos7
DataCenter runs with version 3.5
With best regards
Andreas
