windows remote-viewer vs. linux vm: strange keyboard problem
by Uwe Laverenz
Hi all,
I have the following strange problem with virt-viewer 5.0 and 6.0 on
Windows 10: when I connect to Linux VMs running on a OVirt 4.1 cluster
it sometimes is not possible to use e.g. "AltGr + q" to get the "@"-sign
or "AltGr+8" for "[" on my german keyboard. It seems to be a problem
only when I use a dual screen setup with Linux VMs.
It is possible to get it working by just moving the mouse to the top
center of the screen until the remote-viewer panel shows up. After this
the keyboard works for a short period of time until I work on the other
screen.
I tested CentOS 7,CentOS 6 and Fedora 26 VMs. Windows 7 VMs do not seem
to show this problem, so I'm not sure if it is a problem with
virt-/remote-viewer, OVirt/qemu or the Windows 10 client.
Does anybody else see this behaviour? What would the best place for a
bug report, OVirt and Spice/virt-viewer are separate teams, right?
thanks in advance,
Uwe

Sync two Nodes
by Jonathan Baecker
Hello everybody,
I would like to sync two nodes, but I want that only one node runs
permanently. Only once a week or a month I want to start the second node
and sync them again, if this is necessary.
What you would recommend for this scenario? oVirt have a HA functions,
what I could use, but I thought oVirt brings then maybe errors when one
node is always off. I'm wrong here? Or is there other options what works
better?
Have a nice day!

oVirt Node 4.1.6 on IBM x3650 M3
by Jon bae
Hello everybody,
I would like to install oVirt Node on a IBM Machine, but after the
installation it can not boot. I get the message:
"/boot/efi/..." file not found
I try many different things like turn of uefi options in bios etc. but with
no effect.
Now I figure out that when I install full CentOS 7.3 from live DVD it just
boot normal.
Is there any workaround to get this to work?
Regards
Jonathan

grubx64.efi not found
by jean.prat@orange.com
Hello,
After the reboot of a fresh install of ovirt node, the uefi boot
complains that :
Failed to open \EFI\centos\grubx64.efi
I have to reboot on the installation CD, get a shell from the rescue entry :
mkdir /tmp/ovirt
mount /tmp/sda1 /tmp/ovirt
cp /run/install/repo/EFI/BOOT/grubx64.efi /tmp/ovirt/EFI/centos/
reboot
And then the system boot
I have tried on two servers several times, always the same things
how can i find what happened ?
Thanks.
Jean.

VM resource allocation and IO Threads
by Gianluca Cecchi
Hello,
can anyone give any pointer to deeper information about what in subject and
the value for "Num Of IO Threads" configuration, best practices and
to-be-expected improvements?
I read also here:
https://access.redhat.com/documentation/en-us/red_hat_virtualization/4.1/...
but in some points it seems not so clear to me:
eg:
If a virtual machine has more than one disk, you can enable or change the
number of IO threads to improve performance.
but also
Red Hat recommends using the default number of IO threads, which is 1.
There is also a note about deactivation and activation of disks: does it
mean that even if I poweroff the VM and change its config I have to make
this step after?
Anyone has run benchmarks?
Does it make sense if my VM has 3 disks to configure 6 IO threads for
example?
Do IO threads map to SCSI controllers inside the guest or what?
Thanks in advance,
Gianluca

Planned restart of production services
by Evgheni Dereveanchin
Hi everyone,
I'll be restarting several production systems today to perform planned
maintenance.
The following services may be unreachable for some period of time:
- resources.ovirt.org - software repositories
- jenkins.ovirt.org - CI master
No new builds will be started during this period.
I will announce you once the maintenance is complete.

can't use a iscsi target as a storage domain
by Nathanaël Blanchet
Hi,
I give a try to 4.2 alpha andit seems to be a regression with
registering a iscsi target as a storage domain.
I'm able to login to the target, but when selecting the lun, clicking on
OK does nothing else.
I tried with the same lun on 4.1 and it is ok.
