VMs stuck in migrating state

Hi,
We're running 4.1.9 and during the weekend we had a storage issue that
seemed to leave some hosts in an strange state. One of the hosts has
almost all VMs migrating (although it seems to not actually being
migrating them) and the migration state cannot be cancelled.
When clicking on one of those machines and selecting 'Cancel migration',
in the ovirt-engine log I see:

So no error on the vdsm side log.
I already tried restarting ovirt-engine but it didn't work.
Could someone shed some light on how to cancel the migration status for
these machines? All of them seem to be running on the same host.

Q: VM disk speed penalty NFS vs Local data center storage

Since oVirt doesn=E2=80=99t support more then 1 host in data center with =
local storage domain as described here:

I have to setup NFS server on node with VMs (on same node) access via =
NFS.
10 GB shared storage is in the future plans yet right now have only 2 =
nodes with local RAID on each.
Q: What is VM disk speed penalty (approx %) NFS vs Local RAID in oVirt =
data center storage?=20
Currently I have 2 VMs running our accounting/inventory control system =
which are critical to storage performance limits.
2 other VMs have very low disk activity.

Change management network

Hi all,
I have an oVirt cluster on which I need to change which VLAN is the
management network.
The new management network is an existing VM network. I've configured IP
addresses for all the hosts on this network, and I've even moved the
HostedEngine VM onto this network. So far so good.
What I cannot seem to be able to do is actually change the "management
network" toggle in the cluster to this network: the oVirt Engine
complains saying:
"Error while executing action: Cannot edit Network. Changing management
network in a non-empty cluster is not allowed."
How can I get around this? I clearly cannot empty the cluster, as the
cluster contains all my existing VMs, hosts and HostedEngine.

VM Migrations

Hi,
I am having an issue migrating all vm's based on a specific template. The
template was created in a previous ovirt environment (4.1), and all VM's
deployed from this template experience the same issue.
I would like to find a resolution to both the template and vm's that are
already deployed from this template. The VM in question is VDI-Bryan and
the migration starts around 12:25. I have attached the engine.log and the
vdsm.log file from the destination server.

VMs with multiple vdisks don't migrate

Hi all,
I discovered yesterday a problem when migrating VM with more than one v=
disk.
On our test servers (oVirt4.1, shared storage with Gluster), I created =
2 VMs needed for a test, from a template with a 20G vdisk. On this VMs =
I added a 100G vdisk (for this tests I didn't want to waste time to ext=
end the existing vdisks... But I lost time finally...). The VMs with th=
e 2 vdisks works well.
Now I saw some updates waiting on the host. I tried to put it in mainte=
nance... But it stopped on the two VM. They were marked "migrating", bu=
t no more accessible. Other (small) VMs with only 1 vdisk was migrated =
without problem at the same time.
I saw that a kvm process for the (big) VMs was launched on the source A=
ND destination host, but after tens of minutes, the migration and the V=
Ms was always freezed. I tried to cancel the migration for the VMs : fa=
iled. The only way to stop it was to poweroff the VMs : the kvm process=
died on the 2 hosts and the GUI alerted on a failed migration.
In doubt, I tried to delete the second vdisk on one of this VMs : it mi=
grates then without error ! And no access problem.
I tried to extend the first vdisk of the second VM, the delete the seco=
nd vdisk : it migrates now without problem !=C2=A0=C2=A0=C2=A0
So after another test with a VM with 2 vdisks, I can say that this bloc=
ked the migration process :(

storage with Gluster), I created 2 VMs needed for a test, from a templa=
te with a 20G vdisk. On this VMs I added a 100G vdisk (for this tests I=
didn't want to waste time to extend the existing vdisks... But I lost =
time finally...). The VMs with the 2 vdisks works well.<br />Now I saw =
some updates waiting on the host. I tried to put it in maintenance... B=
ut it stopped on the two VM. They were marked "migrating", but no more =
accessible. Other (small) VMs with only 1 vdisk was migrated without pr=
oblem at the same time.<br />I saw that a kvm process for the (big) VMs=
was launched on the source AND destination host, but after tens of min=
utes, the migration and the VMs was always freezed. I tried to cancel t=
he migration for the VMs : failed. The only way to stop it was to power=
off the VMs : the kvm process died on the 2 hosts and the GUI alerted o=
n a failed migration.<br />In doubt, I tried to delete the second vdisk=
on one of this VMs : it migrates then without error ! And no access pr=
oblem.<br />I tried to extend the first vdisk of the second VM, the del=
ete the second vdisk : it migrates now without problem ! &nb=
sp;<br /><br />So after another test with a VM with 2 vdisks, I can say=

Cannot activate host from maintenance mode

Hello,
I have Ovirt Version:4.2.1.7-1.el7.centos, I did upgrade according to host
indication ,and since then I get the following error when trying to
activate host " Cannot activate Host. Host has no unique id. "
Any idea how to fix this issue, please advice

Permission on Vm and User portal

Hi all,
In 4.1 i was able to assign 1 user to one VM and in the user portal that
same user was only seeing this specific VM. But with 4.2 i have trouble
with permission.
The way i add permission to a specific user is go click on the VM in the
admin portal, then go in permission and add the user(active directory
user). If i log back with this user on the user portal i do not see the VM
that was given the permission.
But if i add the same user in the system permission tab in the admin portal
and give it the UserRole and log back to the user portal, now he can see
all the VM but i only want the user to see is vm not all others ...
there is a difference when the is add from the two different place.. is the
attribute :
when add from the sytem permission it add the (System) in the inherited
permission colum,
when add from the VM permission tab it does not have that..
Any hints would appreciated.
