[Users] ovirt-node install hangs
by Alexandre Santos
Hi,
I'm trying to install the ovirt-node iso image on a SATA disk and when it
gets to the screen where it shows 25% completed the kernel hangs. I can't
connect using a serial console to see what has happened. If I reboot using
a usb linux disk I see that the SATA disk has been formated and the
partitions that existed before disappeared, being there just one partition
of type "ee"
If I use a 8 GB usb pen-drive instead of the SATA disk, the installation
comes to an end and I reboot but then I get some error about not getting
/dev/mapper/by-name/Root and the boot fails to a dracut shell.
Any ideas?
BTW, this happens with both 2.5.1 and 2.5.2

Oh crumbs! I thought that was wishful thinking though :)
Exporting the VM's to NFS will take too long due to the total size
being 4TB and the VM's are a mail, proxy and pdc servers so getting
that much downtime won't be possible. Is attempting the upgrade
path(http://wiki.ovirt.org/wiki/OVirt_3.0_to_3.1_upgrade) again my
only option then?
Even if I manage to get the "upgrade" working will I still need to
export/import the VM's via NFS or will the datacentre move across once
it can be detached?
Thanks!

information
I did some googling and came across this:
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?format=multiple&id=857692
Though I am using 64 bit java so I don't think the issue is related.
[root@alpha ~]# java -version
java version "1.7.0_06-icedtea"
OpenJDK Runtime Environment (fedora-2.3.1.fc17.2-x86_64)
OpenJDK 64-Bit Server VM (build 23.2-b09, mixed mode)
I've attached the error log. If anybody could point me in the right
direction, it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

My engine is engine01.blabla.com
My current workings hosts are node01.blabla.com and node02.blabla.com
and I'm trying to add node03.blabla.com
I can ping node03 as well as the full FQDN node03.blabla.com from the
engine as well as the other hosts, there iptables is completely
disabled on node03 as well. Node03 has full internet access, it's DNS
is working and I can ping all the hosts and engine01.blabla.com etc so
I'm fairly certain it's no a networking/DNS issue.
A bit of background, I've recently upgraded from an early ovirt 3.1
release, changed the hostname, as well as recreate the SSL certificate
on my engine(using Juan's steps).
What I do find odd is in the engine log I'm seeing the mention of
node02(which is 10.0.2.22), even though I'm specifically trying to
install node03(10.0.2.23). I have tried removing the host and
re-adding it without any success.
On node03 I'm seeing the following error in my /var/log/messages...
Oct 19 13:31:32 node03 vdsm root ERROR client ('10.0.2.31',

[Users] Last-minute schedule changes to oVirt Workshop
by Dave Neary
Hi all,
Because of the cancellation of a session on next Thursday the 8th of
November in the oVirt Workshop in Barcelona, we have moved things around
a bit in the schedule to make room for BOF sessions on Thursday at 5pm.
As a result, the sessions of Pino de Candia, Viay Bellur and Deepak
Shetty have moved a little earlier - Pino will now be presenting IaaS
networking comparing virtual networking to openflow-controlled switch
fabrics at 2:20pm, Vijay will present oVirt & Gluster integration after
the break at 3:30pm, and Deepak will present the integration of
GlusterFS as a storage domain in VDSM at 4:15pm.
As a result of the reshuffle, we now have an hour (5pm-6pm) when we can
schedule BOFs - I would love to see discussion here about potential BOF
topics.
The full schedule for the oVirt Workshop is now:

16:45-17-30 BOF: How can we improve oVirt Troubleshooting?
Lee Yarwood
In addition, as Jason said yesterday, there are several oVirt related
sessions throuout the week in Barcelona: Itamar will present oVirt
during the CloudOpen Summit on Tuesday 6th at 14:15 in Verdi, Andy
Cathrow will give an overview of oVirt to KVM BOF attendees at 17:30 on
Wednesday 8th in Ambar, and Vijay Bellur will present the integration of

See you all there! And please do suggest BOF topics here (although, as
usual with BOFs, those who turn up decide what to talk about).
Cheers,
Dave.

If you just want to make quick progress, you can copy your iso file to =
your images directory. You will want to put the .iso file (it must have =
a .iso extension) in the correct directory. e.g.
cp my.iso /export/iso-images/<some =
uuid>/images/11111111-1111-1111-1111-111111111111
The actual directory names will vary. If you just copy it, the =
ovirt-engine will find it in a few seconds/minutes and update itself.=20

hi,
I've got a export domain that i try to import into a new HV - however -
it keeps saying:
"Storage domain already attached to pool: X"
And it ends up being unable to attach it to the new HV.
How can i manually clear this state ? The old host is nolonger
available, unfortunately.
Thanks,
Alex
