[Users] Nested virtualization with Opteron 2nd generation and oVirt 3.1 possible?
by Gianluca Cecchi
Hello,
I have 2 physical servers with Opteron 2nd gen cpu.
There is CentOS 6.3 installed and some VM already configured on them.
Their /proc/cpuinfo contains
...
model name : Dual-Core AMD Opteron(tm) Processor 8222
...
kvm_amd kernel module is loaded with its default enabled nested option
# systool -m kvm_amd -v
Module = "kvm_amd"
Attributes:
initstate = "live"
refcnt = "15"
srcversion = "43D8067144E7D8B0D53D46E"
Parameters:
nested = "1"
npt = "1"
...
I already configured a fedora 17 VM as a oVirt 3.1 Engine
I'm trying to configure another VM as oVirt 3.1 node with
ovirt-node-iso-2.5.5-0.1.fc17.iso
It seems I'm not able to configure so that ovirt install doesn't complain.
After some attempts, I tried this in my vm.xml for the cpu:
<cpu mode='custom' match='exact'>
<model fallback='allow'>athlon</model>
<vendor>AMD</vendor>
<feature policy='require' name='pni'/>
<feature policy='require' name='rdtscp'/>
<feature policy='force' name='svm'/>
<feature policy='require' name='clflush'/>
<feature policy='require' name='syscall'/>
<feature policy='require' name='lm'/>
<feature policy='require' name='cr8legacy'/>
<feature policy='require' name='ht'/>
<feature policy='require' name='lahf_lm'/>
<feature policy='require' name='fxsr_opt'/>
<feature policy='require' name='cx16'/>
<feature policy='require' name='extapic'/>
<feature policy='require' name='mca'/>
<feature policy='require' name='cmp_legacy'/>
</cpu>
Inside node /proc/cpuinfo becomes
processor : 3
vendor_id : AuthenticAMD
cpu family : 6
model : 2
model name : QEMU Virtual CPU version 0.12.1
stepping : 3
microcode : 0x1000065
cpu MHz : 3013.706
cache size : 512 KB
fpu : yes
fpu_exception : yes
cpuid level : 2
wp : yes
flags : fpu vme de pse tsc msr pae mce cx8 apic mtrr pge mca cmov pat
pse36 clflush mmx fxsr sse sse2 syscall mmxext fxsr_opt lm nopl pni
cx16 hypervisor lahf_lm cmp_legacy cr8_legacy
bogomips : 6027.41
TLB size : 1024 4K pages
clflush size : 64
cache_alignment : 64
address sizes : 40 bits physical, 48 bits virtual
power management:
2 questions:
1) Is there any combination in xml file to give to my VM so that oVirt
doesn't complain about missing hardware virtualization with this
processor?
2) suppose 1) is not possible in my case and I still want to test the
interface and try some config operations to see for example the
differences with RHEV 3.0, how can I do?
At the moment this complaint about hw virtualization prevents me to
activate the node.
I get
Installing Host f17ovn01. Step: RHEV_INSTALL.
Host f17ovn01 was successfully approved.
Host f17ovn01 running without virtualization hardware acceleration
Detected new Host f17ovn01. Host state was set to Non Operational.
Host f17ovn01 moved to Non-Operational state.
Host f17ovn01 moved to Non-Operational state as host does not meet the
cluster's minimum CPU level. Missing CPU features : CpuFlags
Can I lower the requirements to be able to operate without hw
virtualization in 3.1?
Thanks in advance,
Gianluca

I need to import a kvm virtual machine from a standalone kvm into my ovirt =
cluster. Standalone is using local storage, and my ovirt cluster is using =
iscsi. Can i please have some advice on whats the best way to get this sys=
tem into ovirt?
Right now i see it as copying the .img file to somewhere=85 but i have no i=
dea where to start. I found this directory on one of my ovirt nodes:
/rhev/data-center/mnt/blockSD/fe633237-14b2-4f8b-aedd-bbf753bcafaf/master/v=
ms
But inside is just directories that appear to have uuid-type of names, and =
i can't tell what belongs to which vm.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
jonathan

by Leslie Hawthorn
Hello everyone,
As part of our efforts to raise awareness of and educate more developers
about the oVirt project, we will be holding an oVirt workshop at
LinuxCon Japan, taking place on June 8, 2012. You can find full details
of the workshop agenda on the LinuxCon Japan site. [0]
Registration for the workshop is now open and is free of charge for the
first 50 participants. We will also look at adding additional
participant slots to the workshop based on demand.
Attendees who register for LinuxCon Japan via the workshop registration
link [1] will also be eligible for a discount on their LinuxCon Japan
registration.
Please spread the word to folks you think would find the workshop
useful. If they have already registered for LinuxCon Japan, they can
simply edit their existing registration to include the workshop.

Hi all,
I can't login to the hypervisor, neither as root nor as admin, neither from=
another computer via ssh nor directly on the machine.
I'm sure I remember the passwords. This is not the first time it happens: l=
ast time I reinstalled the host. Everything worked ok for about 2 weeks, an=
d then...
What's going on? Is it a known behavior, somehow?
Before rebooting the hypervisor, I would like to try something. RHEV Manage=
r talks to RHEV-H without any problems. Can I login with RHEV-M's keys? how=
?
Thank you all.

Hey All,
I ran into this issue myself where I needed to convert a data domain to an
export domain in order to recover virtual guests from a corrupted
ovirt/rhevm instance into a new ovirt/rhevm instance. This wasn't
documented anywhere that I saw but with the help of Itamar Heim and an
well timed email to the list from Igor Lvovsky last night I was able to do
this and wanted to send to the list a documented procedure for how to
modify the metadata of the data domain prior to import as an export
domain. This procedure works for both RHEV-M and Ovirt. Let me know if
you have any questions.

[Users] mozilla-xpi for Ubuntu
by Mario Giammarco
Hello,
I need a working mozilla-xpi for Ubuntu 12.04 (and soon 12.10).
It is strange that an opensource project as ovirt is only working on Fedora.
Thanks in advance for any help.

What does the agent's log say (/var/log/ovirt-guest-agent.log)?
Usually, if everything is running as it should, the problem is that the
Linux machine is not configure to work with the same authentication
server as the one that the RHEV-M is using.

This is a host that started life as a standard Fed17 install from LiveCD
and it worked with ovirt-3.1 but now I can't get it to work with
oVirt-nightlies. I have two other hosts which started from the same
install and they work, atleast everything gets installed and the hosts are
visisble and up in oVirt. Did a diff of rpm -aq | sort of a working and
nonworking host but the diff is minimal, some extra packages (mc/..) some
very small version diffs (1.2.3-x instead of y)
Any help appreciated,

[Users] HowTo: Spice ActiveX Plugin/Virt Viewer Console on oVirt 3.1
by Dead Horse
I have seen this question asked many times on this list and the spice-devel
list. Now having figured out how to make it work I will provide the answer
to the rest of the community.
*NOTE* this only applies to Windows/Internet Explorer users. There exists
no other option other than the html5 spice console (still beta/in
development) for windows users ATM. This will also only work with Internet
Explorer.
Basic Steps:
- Install an oVirt server.
- Add at least one node
- Setup storage/iso/export domains
Advanced steps
- Start by downloading: http://elmarco.fedorapeople.org/spice.cab
- Create a directory for it oVirt looks by default in /usr/share/spice
- Rename spice.cab to SpiceX.cab and copy it into /usr/share/spice
- Now edit /usr/share/ovirt-engine/engine.ear/root.war/WEB-INF and add the
following:
<!-- SpiceX.cab -->
<servlet>
<servlet-name>SpiceX.cab</servlet-name>
<servlet-class>org.ovirt.engine.core.FileServlet</servlet-class>
<init-param>
<param-name>type</param-name>
<param-value>application/octet-stream</param-value>
</init-param>
<init-param>
<param-name>file</param-name>
<param-value>/usr/share/spice/SpiceX.cab</param-value>
</init-param>
</servlet>
<servlet-mapping>
<servlet-name>SpiceX.cab</servlet-name>
<url-pattern>/spice/SpiceX.cab</url-pattern>
</servlet-mapping>
- Next create an html file within
/usr/share/ovirt-engine/engine.ear/root.war
- In the example below an html file called "spice.html"
- Copy/Paste the below into spice.html:
<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
<head>
<title>SPICE Plugin Installer</title>
<script type="text/javascript">
function installSpice()
{
try {
document.getElementById('SpiceX').innerHTML = '<OBJECT id="SpiceX"
codebase="/spice/SpiceX.cab"
classid="clsid:ACD6D89C-938D-49B4-8E81-DDBD13F4B48A" width="0"
height="0"></OBJECT>';
} catch (ex) {
alert("Epic Fail!: " + ex.Description);
}
}
</script>
</head>
<body>
<p>
<p><b id='SpiceX'>Spice ActiveX Plugin</b> </p>
<button onclick='installSpice()'>Install Spice Plugin</button>
</p>
</body>
</html>
- Save the file
- You will now need to restart the ovirt-engine service EG: systemctl
restart ovirt-engine.service OR service ovirt-engine restart
- The installer page will now be available at http://<url to ovirt
server>/spice.html EX: http://ovirt.azeroth.net/spice.html
- Navigate to that page and click the install button
- IE will prompt you to deploy/install the SpiceX cabinet file
- It may gripe about an unsigned or untrusted source, acknowledge this an
proceed anyways
- If the install succeeds the text "Spice ActiveX Plugin" on the page will
change to blank (it's actually the plugin with null values)
- The console button in the user and webadmin portals will now launch the
new virt-viwer spice based console!
Happy Spice Consoling to your VM's from Windows!
*NOTE*
To uninstall the plugin:
- The below removes the add-on from IE (EG: removes knowledge of
"application/x-spice")
- pop a command terminal and type:
On Windows XP: regsvr32 /u "C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Local
Settings\Application Data\virt-viewer\bin\SpiceX.dll"
On Windows 7 regsvr32 /u C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Local
Settings\AppData\virt-viewer\bin\SpiceX.dll"
- Next we need to remove the rest of virt-viewer
- Go to add/remove programs and uninstall virt-viewer, this removes the
rest of virt-viewer from the system

Hi,
correct-me if I am wrong but this wiki page
(http://www.ovirt.org/DomainInfrastructure) states clearly :

The objectife is to redefine some network parameters of a vnic at the

[Users] F18 AIO with nightly build I don't find ISO domain
by Gianluca Cecchi
Hello,
during AIO install with
ovirt-engine-setup-3.2.0-1.20121217.git1e01c00.fc18.noarch
I specified ISO domain not accepting default but setting /ISO
Host correctly activated but no ISO domain found.
I can see:
[g.cecchi@f18aio ~]$ cat /etc/exports
/ISO 0.0.0.0/0.0.0.0(rw) #rhev installer
[g.cecchi@f18aio ~]$ sudo exportfs -v
/ISO 0.0.0.0/0.0.0.0(rw,wdelay,root_squash,no_subtree_check)
I cannot add the domain because I get:
Error while executing action New Local Storage Domain: Error in creating a
Storage Domain. The selected storage path is not empty (probably contains
another Storage Domain). Either remove the existing Storage Domain from
this path, or change the Storage path).
I cannot import that domain because if I specify:
Domain Function / Storage Type : ISO/NFS
Use Host : local_host
Export Path : f18aio:/ISO
I get
There is no storage domain under the specified path. Check event log for
more details.

[Users] Ovirt Node rebooting +/- every 10 days
by EricD
I have oVirt 3.1 with two nodes, one of them is running good without
restarting the other keep restarting, the maximum uptime that the server
can get is 10 days before it restart, I think that it might be something
related to the disk.
FYI, the disk are 2 disk of 1TB (RAID-0) to get 2TB.

[Users] ovirt-shell bug ?
by Alex Leonhardt
Hi,
am trying to use .ovirtshellrc with a set user, pass and url, however, I
keep getting this instead:
error: invalid literal for int() with base 10: ''
and I remain disconnected. Using the same url and creds to connect manually
works - is it a bug or just some setting ?

[Users] ovirt-shell, action vm vmhost start issue ?
by Alex Leonhardt
Hi,
am trying to start a VM with special kernel and initrd options :
[oVirt shell (connected)]# action vm cent6 start --vm-os-kernel
"/var/www/html/repo/centos/6/os/x86_64/images/pxeboot/vmlinuz"
--vm-os-initRd
"/var/www/html/repo/centos/6/os/x86_64/images/pxeboot/initrd.img"
--vm-os-boot "{ip=x.x.x.x;netmask=x.x.x.x;gateway=x.x.x.x;dns=x.x.x.x}"
However, I keep getting this back :
error: "initRd" is invalid argument segment.
Eventhough, the help says that it's a valid command option :

[Users] Bug in ovirt-deploy script

I'm using a Cluster with the Gluster bit checked and when adding that host
it errors out with a rather annoying error: package 'v' not found.
Turns out that the last line of
Mgmt01/usr/share/ovirt-host-deploy/plugins/ovirt-host-deploy/gluster/packages.py
is wrong, there is a ',' missing. I changed it to:
def _packages(self):
self.packager.installUpdate(('vdsm-gluster',))
And when I now try to deploy my host in the gluster Cluster it tries to
install vdsm-gluster package and dependancies.
It now fails in /usr/share/vdsm/addNetwork where it complaines about
ConfigNetworkError: (21, 'Both PREFIX and NETMASK supplied')
This host has already been an ovirt installed host.
I could for testing remove all traces of ovirt but I have another host
where I tried that and now it stops its networking when vdsmd starts ;-(
Went ahead and removed PREFIX and reran deploy. The bridge ovirtmgmt is
correctly created BUT there is an error in the log:
INFO:root:Adding network ovirtmgmt with vlan=, bonding=, nics=['em1'],
bondingOptions=None, mtu=None, bridged=True, options={'blockingdhcp':
'true', 'UUID': 'e121a99a-994e-479d-8de1-a56c14315545', 'USERCTL': 'no',

'onboot': 'yes', 'IPV6INIT': 'no'}
libvir: Network Driver error : Network not found: no network with matching
name 'vdsm-ovirtmgmt'
libvir: Network Driver error : Network not found: no network with matching
name 'vdsm-ovirtmgmt'
libvir: Network Driver error : Requested operation is not valid: cannot
set autostart for transient network
Looking at /etc/libvirt/qemu/networks/* shows indeed there are references
to vdsm-ovirtmgt.
Maybe this is because I'm also using fedora-virt-preview-repo because the
nightlies need a newer libvirt.
Let me know if a slightly lower version of libvirt will fix this.

[Users] Thin provisioning extending while "Make template" still a bug?
by Adrian Gibanel
------=_Part_151_10842021.1356038920441
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=utf-8

I'm going to describe the bug.=20
You create a virtual machine with a thin provisioning hard disk.=20
You select the virtual machine (which it was stopped in my case) and click =
on "Make template".=20
You wait so that it ends but then when checking storage domain you notice t=
hat your template has the same size as if it was a preallocated image!=20
I suppose that in some of the cases you can run out of space.=20
I've been complaining on the irc about what it seemed Manager to ignore tha=
t the "Make template" task had finished, I mean just ignore it for about 30=
minutes and then saying everything it's ok. But... that's another history.=
=20
Two irc people stated that usually people ran this bug where the virtual ma=
chine gets the preallocated size instead of the thin provisioning one.=20
Although they were not quite sure there's supposedly a bug around this subj=
ect which I couldn't find on bugzilla.=20
If the bug is as the one as I describe I would be happy to contribute to it=
with my setup details and logs so that you can find whatever makes it not =
happen in my case while most of the people run accross it.=20
Thank you for any information you can provide.=20

[Users] oVirt-Foreman UI plugin
by Oved Ourfalli
Hey all,
I've been working on an oVirt-Foreman UI-plugin recently, using oVirt's new UI-plugin infrastructure.
It allows users to see Foreman data on oVirt entities, from inside Webadmin.
I wrote a blog post describing this plugin, what can he do, some challenges that I faced and solutions, some screenshots, future work and more.
Check it out at:
ovedou.blogpost.com
I'll be happy to hear your feedback both on the blog and on the plugin itself!
If you need help installing the plugin feel free to contact me :-)
Cheers,
Oved

[Users] Adding Nodes after ovirt-engine re-install
by Alex Leonhardt
Hi,
I was wondering if it's possible to add existing ovirt nodes (HVs) to a
new installed ovirt-engine ? E.g. the old engine died and there was no
backup of it - how would you add the existing HVs without destroying what's
already running ?
If the above is not possible, is there a "backup guide" you can refer me to
? Ideally though, it should really be possible to "import" existing HVs
into a newly setup ovirt-engine.

[Users] v2v vmware conversion
by Alex Leonhardt
Hi,
I've seen several posts out there on how to convirt hosts from VMware ->
Ovirt/KVM - Am I right to assume that just like the command for RHEV, the
equivalent for Ovirt would be :
virt-v2v -ic esx://$IP$/?no_verify=1 -o rhev -osd
$HV$:/vol/exportdomain --network ovirtmgmt
$VMNAME$
Also, I read a post that refers to a ovirt profile for v2v - I've never had
to convert any VMs from VMWare so was wondering if that is just a custom
config or whether there is a general v2v profile that can be used to
convert to ovirt ?

[Users] Report size of thin provisioned disk
by Jeff Bailey
With 3.2 alpha, on the disks subtab of the virtual machines tab I'm
seeing the correct "virtual size" for the disk but the "actual size"
remains 1GB even though the drive has grown to 11GB (according to lvs
output). It doesn't seem to be causing any problems. The auto-growth
(from my perspective) is working much smoother than it did a release ago
:) I just wondered if anyone else had noticed this.
Thanks,
Jeff

[Users] AIO f18 nightly local storage active only in permissive mode
by Gianluca Cecchi
Hello,
Fedora 18 with all-in-one config and nightly build repo at this level:
ovirt-engine-3.2.0-1.20121217.git1e01c00.fc18.noarch
When I try to activate local domain I view it remains in "contending" and
then fails.
I try 2-3 times.
[g.cecchi@f18aio ~]$ getenforce
Enforcing
As soon as I set
setenforce 0
[g.cecchi@f18aio ~]$ getenforce
Permissive
And I try to activate again, it works and my local_host results correctly
up.
Is this something already fixed in next nightly or should I send my logs?
Is it supposed to be a supported config with SELinux in Enforcing or not
(I'm referring to the problem of tuned too..)?
Thanks

[Users] ovirt 3.1 vnc passwordless setup
by Alexandru Vladulescu
Hi guys,
I am running Ovirt 3.1 (fresh install -- no upgrade) on some Centos 6.3
servers; and I did a small setup regarding 2 hypervisors, 1 node
controller and 1 NAS server providing NFS export, storage & ISO domains
for the appliances.
All this solution has one server more that's acting as a firewall and
traffic policy shaping in front of the network setup.
The problem that I am facing right now, is that I am trying to setup
Ovirt on VNC remote connection in the manner that does not require
password login with 120 seconds expiration timeout. Somehow I would like
to map VNC ports on the 2 hypervisor nodes to bond with a vnc reflector
installed on the node controller, which also acts as a VPN server on the
setup for out-band connections.
Therefore, users connecting over VPN could get access to the VNC of the
VMs without entering the web portal and requiring an active VNC password
with 120 seconds expiration time.
I tried digging through the libvirtd.conf and qemu.conf configuration
files, found some VNC parameters but none seemed to do the job for my
purpose. I must mention that I have been looking for a similar setup on
the Ovirt documentation page as well as googlin' it.
You help will be much appreciated.
My regards,
Alex Vladulescu

[Users] ovirt-shell as ForceCommand for ssh logins
by Jiri Belka
Hi,
ForceCommand for ssh session can force command for logging user.
Problem is ovirt-shell enables shell commands, that's not nice if we
would just want to give sysadmins some "restricted" cli for managing
oVirt environment.
1. Could be implemented an option to disable these shell "escapes"?
Like '-S', so it would be 'comment="/usr/bin/ovirt-shell -S"' in
user's authorized_keys.
2. Could be implemented an ovirt-shell command like 'set' to set
configuration from ovirt-shell and save it(yes, user in ovirt-shell
should not touch filesystem directly)?
Example:
> set username = "foo@domain"
> save -a # save all runtime settings
3. Aliases like in lftp client?
> alias lsvmmyvm list vms --query "name=myvm*"
> save alias lsvmmyvm

[Users] attempted live snapshot, machine paused, wouldn't restart

I attempted to take a snapshot of a machine while it was running. I
noticed that the machine was paused, and then I attempted to resume it.
The machine looked like it was going to launch, but the events tab simply
indicated that execution of launching the vm failed.

I'm not sure if I was missing something, or if I needed to wait for
something to complete, or what. I ended up just stopping the machine and
then starting it from cold.
Any thoughts here? I'm happy to attempt this again and to see if it breaks
the same way and to capture more data.
Cheers,

So... That's it. The last setup is the one I want it to persist. Well, actually, I also need that an script called from:
/etc/rc.d/rc.local
later modifies firewall rules too. But let's focus on restarting iptables and libvirtd services.
Now I'm going to reboot and you're going to see that its firewall rules are not the expected ones:

I suppose I will fix this issue by running iptables and libvirtd service restarts at rc.d/rc.local but...
I would like to understand a little bit better what's going under the hood so that I don't have to implement workarounds.
So... any other service that might modify iptables rules? Maybe anyone oVirt specific?
Thank you.

[Users] Migration failing
by Neil
Hi guys,
I've just migrated all(3) my VM's from one host to another for planned
maintenance, and now when trying to migrate the VM's back to the
original host, I'm receiving a "Fatal error" and can't migrate a
single machine back to node02.
Attached is my engine.log
I'm running Centos 6.3 with the following oVirt package versions from dreyou.
ovirt-engine-setup-3.1.0-3.19.el6.noarch
ovirt-engine-3.1.0-3.19.el6.noarch
ovirt-engine-sdk-3.1.0.5-1.el6.noarch
ovirt-engine-jbossas711-1-0.x86_64
ovirt-engine-config-3.1.0-3.19.el6.noarch
ovirt-image-uploader-3.1.0-16.el6.noarch
ovirt-engine-webadmin-portal-3.1.0-3.19.el6.noarch
ovirt-engine-notification-service-3.1.0-3.19.el6.noarch
ovirt-log-collector-3.1.0-16.el6.noarch
ovirt-engine-genericapi-3.1.0-3.19.el6.noarch
ovirt-engine-userportal-3.1.0-3.19.el6.noarch
ovirt-engine-tools-common-3.1.0-3.19.el6.noarch
ovirt-engine-backend-3.1.0-3.19.el6.noarch
ovirt-iso-uploader-3.1.0-16.el6.noarch
ovirt-engine-cli-3.1.0.7-1.el6.noarch
ovirt-engine-restapi-3.1.0-3.19.el6.noarch
ovirt-engine-dbscripts-3.1.0-3.19.el6.noarch
Any ideas? I need to shut down both hosts tomorrow for RAM upgrades,
but my plan was to avoid downtime by migrating all the VM's to one
machine and then the other.
Any assistance is greatly appreciated.
This system was upgraded from oVirt 3.0 to 3.1 and the engine was
moved to another physical machine and the hostname was changed as
well.
Thanks.

Neil Wilson.

[Users] Host Install Failing
by Neil
Hi guys,
I'm re-visiting an older issue that I was trying to resolve a while ago.
I have an oVirt 3.1 system that was upgraded from 3.0, during the same
upgrade the hostname of the engine was changed, and the keys etc were
all regenerated.
I'm trying to add a new host to the cluster but my install is failing
with the following error in my "vds_installer.262945.log" ...
Tue, 18 Dec 2012 11:22:26 DEBUG **** Start VDS Installation ****

where backup.blabla.com is my oVirt engine.
The host resolves correctly and if I browse to the hostname I receive
the ovirt front end, however if I try and browse to deployUtil.py I
get a 404 error.
Seems like the file either isn't in the correct location on my engine
or the permissions are wrong, below is the file with permissions from
my engine....

[Users] Testing ovirt all in one on F18 gives error on DB creation
by Gianluca Cecchi
Hello,
testing oVirt for with all in one config in f18 beta.
engine-setup fails in Database creation and in db log file:

How can I workaround this?
Do I have to rollback what already done by engine-setup or can I only
resolve the db part?
Version I find is
ovirt-engine-setup-3.1.0-1.fc18.noarch
Thanks

I needed a slight adjustment of the syntax as this gives me "Argument for set action must be in format of key=value"
[root@leob220 ~]# engine-config -s AdminPassword=xxxxxxxxxxxxx
Cannot set value xxxxxxxxxxxxx to key AdminPassword.

So, what I did to resolve the issue was to manually downgrade all the RPMs which failed in the script. I had to provide absolute URLs to the RPMs though. After that I restarted ovirt-engine and ran the engine-upgrade again. Miraculously everything worked this time and now I am running ovirt-engine-3.2.0-1.33.
Kind regards
Jörn

In addition, I am no longer able to log in with admin@internal and the pass=

Any way of resetting the password in the database or fixing some encryption=

[Users] Problem with VDSM becoming unresponsive
by Daniel Rowe
Hi
I have an issue with a one node ovirt setup with gluster storage.
Every so often (twice a week or) the management console show the node
as unresponsive.
I can ssh to the node fine and it is indeed responsive. I can see the
VM processes taking CPU with top. I can see the VDSM process as well.
Restarting vsdmd causes the node to become in the up state again, but
I have to restart all the VMs that are running.
In the engine log file (attached) there is
"VDS::handleNetworkException Server failed to respond" error.
I am not sure how I can fix this so any help appreciated.
Attached is the engine log.

Daniel

[Users] migration & missing cert - 3.2 alpha
by Jeff Bailey
Hi,
I have an F18 Beta + oVirt 3.2 alpha setup with two hosts. When I try
to migrate from one host to the other I get
2012-12-15 15:18:51.381+0000: 1541: error :
virNetTLSContextCheckCertFile:113 :
Cannot read CA certificate '/etc/pki/CA/cacert.pem': No such file or
directory
in libvirtd.log on the source host. Is that actually where the cert
should be and I should try to track down why it's not there or should it
be somewhere else? If it should be somewhere else where would that be
configured? The default location for the client certificates seems to
be /etc/pki/libvirt which doesn't exist so even with a cacert it still
probably wouldn't work. Could this be related to the missing spice
certificates (I manually made the symbolic links for those).
Thanks,
Jeff

[Users] Single Sign On (Kerberos) to the user portal
by Sigbjorn Lie
Hi,
Is it possible to do Single Sign On to the user portal using Kerberos?
We have deployed FreeIPA where all our workstations are authenticating.
We are already using SSO w/kerberos for web servers, and it would be
handy if we could use SSO w/kerberos to authenticate to the User Portal too.

[Users] web gui and bonded nic changes
by Jim Kinney
I hit a snag last night. I needed to remove a nic from a host bond in
ovirtmanage to create a new bridge line for user access to VMs. The process
hung the box and I had to go put hands on the physical console (more reason
to get the ipmi network setup!). The error message was "can't add eth3 to
bond. already bonded" (or close). It seems the only way to remove a nic
from a bond is to unload the bonding module. Apparently the ovirt process
doesn't call a modprobe -r bonding during a network reset on the managed
hosts. stop network, unload bonding, start network worked fine from the
console.
