[Users] Change SPM manually, forcing the operation.
by Kalil de A. Carvalho
Hello everyone,
I' new in oVirt and I tried to do some tests, and one is simulate the
failed of one host.
This host, which is go off, is the actual SPM and I want to change manually
to a second host that is in the same cluster.
When I tried change from web tool the server face me this pup up:
Error while executing action ForceSelectSPM: Error connecting to the
Storage Pool Manager service.
Possible reasons:
- Storage Pool Manager service is in non-active state.
- No Active Host in the Data Center.
And this message from engine.log:

[Users] Console defaults
by Christian Kolquist
Question:
Is there a way to set the webadmin to only use NoVNC as a default for the
console? Since the devs decided to remove the popup window and only
download a file, it added several steps for me to be able to look at the
console on my Mac. There isn't a packaged viewer for spice on OSX as of
yet and every time I have tried to get it installed it fails. So, my only
option is VNC of which there are none that will open the .vv files.
Thanks
Christian

[Users] Broken Main Datastore Gluster
by emitor@gmail.com
Hi,
I have a gluster cluster configured, I've restarted both nodes and the
datastore now give me an error "Failed to activate Storage Domain
ds_cluster1_gfs (Data Center ing_GFS) by admin@internal"
I would like to be able to recover the datastore but I've just tried to
destroy it and it gives me an error too.
Any ideas?
Regards!

[Users] ComputeNode installation failed ovirt 3.3
by Sven Kieske
Hi,
we have successfully deployed ovirt engine 3.3.
However, when adding a node based on ovirt node 2.6.1.
we get the following error after registration completed successfully
and we try to activate the host via webadmin:
"Installing Host server4 Starting vdsm"
"Host server4 Installation failed. Unexpected connection termination."
I attached an excerpt from the engine.log, which shows that an ssh
commands fails, but I don't know why.
manual ssh connections to the node from the management node work just fine.
The node has the IP 10.0.1.4 in the log.
Any help would be appreciated.
Regards
Sven
PS:
The same Node works fine with oVirt management 3.2.
We then did use the "reinstall" feature from the node
iso to redeploy the node to the management 3.3 server.

[Users] Glance with oVirt
by Riccardo Brunetti
Dear ovirt users.
I'm trying to setup an oVirt 3.3 installation using an already existing
OpenStack glance service as an external provider.
When I define the external provider, I put:
Openstack Image as "Type"
the glance service endpoint as "URL" (ie. http://xx.xx.xx.xx:9292) I
used the openstack public url.
check "Requires Authentication"
put the administrator user/password/tenant in the following fields.
Unfortunately the connection test always fails and the glance provider
doesn't work in ovirt.
In the engine.log I can see:

[Users] Customizing node configuration

Hello All,
I've been searching the archives and not yet managed to find anything on th=
e subject, so I'm hoping that someone can point me in the right direction.
I am using nodes with Intel 10G network cards. The driver for these cards =
has been tweaked to complain (and fail to start the interface) if a non-Int=
el approved optical transceiver is in use. It's easy to override with the =
following options:
ixgbe.allow_unsupported_sfp=3D1
The usual ways of doing this are either to place it on the kernel command l=
ine at boot time, or in /etc/modprobe.d/ixgbe.conf where it would read "opt=
ions ixgbe allow_unsupported_sfp=3D1". Unfortunately I have no idea how to=
make either of these permanent on an oVirt node.
I'm running the ovirt-node-iso-3.0.1-1.0.2.vdsm.el6.iso image. It has an /=
etc/modprobe.d directory where changes do not persist across reboots. It a=
lso has /config/etc where I've added modprobe.d and modprobe.d/ixgbe.conf. =
By adding this file to /config/files, I've been able to make it appear in =
/etc/modprobe.d at boot time. This has no effect. It appears to take plac=
e after the ixgbe driver has already been started. If I "rmmod ixgbe" and =
"modprobe ixgbe" manually, it works fine.
So the general question is, how do I make configuration changes which persi=
st across reboots? Surely others have run into the same situation when try=
ing to support specific devices.
Thanks,
Allen Belletti

Sure, but you could use hardware raid 1 with a basic hba.
