Hi,
I need to get ovirt to production as my XEN environment is falling apart.
I've been dealing with the problem of been unable to run any VM on the
updated- reinstalled ovirt from 3.1 to 3.2
Any VM I try to start exits with this error:
VM SambaDC1 is down. Exit message: internal error process exited while
connecting to monitor: Supported machines are: pc RHEL 6.4.0 PC (alias
of rhel6.4.0) rhel6.4.0 RHEL 6.4.0 PC (default) rhel6.3.0 RHEL 6.3.0 PC
rhel6.2.0 RHEL 6.2.0 PC rhel6.1.0 RHEL 6.1.0 PC rhel6.0.0 RHEL 6.0.0 PC
rhel5.5.0 RHEL 5.5.0 PC rhel5.4.4 RHEL 5.4.4 PC rhel5.4.0 RHEL 5.4.0 PC .
The VMs are centos 6.4 and were fresh installed in each VM iscsi LUN
while using 3.1 but though I deleted the original VMs (purged the
database with engine-cleanup as part of the reinstall process) and
created them in 3.2, it fails to work.
Please let me know what info I need to get this running.
Regards,
Juan Pablo Lorier

[Users] f19 guest in oVirt 3.2.2 considerations
by Gianluca Cecchi
Successfully installed f19 x86_64 guest desktop via pxe.
Vm configured in oVirt as other linux
run yum update after install
qemu-kvm process command line on host for this VM contains:
-vga qxl -global qxl-vga.vram_size=671088
On F19 VM xorg qxl driver automatically installed and used and also
spice-vdagent
I had to manually install ovirt-guest-agent from standard fedora repo
--> perhaps it would be nice to have it some sort of automatically
installed in oVirt guest... how?
I put guest in full screen, aka in my setup 1680x1050
Able to use gnome 3 even if quite slow.
As soon as I start firefox and begin to use it I get this in Xorg.0.log

[Users] host remains in status unassigned
by Gianluca Cecchi
Hello,
oVirt 3.2.1 on F18
One mgmt server + one host.
At some point the host had some problem and was rebooted
at reboot ther was a problem because I got
detected unhandled Python exception in '/usr/share/vdsm/vdsm'
watching at
http://www.ovirt.org/Troubleshooting
I verified that for some reason vdsmd.log was root.root.
So I set correct permissions and restarted the node.
Now it stays at "unassigned" status from an engine point of view, that
I don't know what means...

[Users] Limit migration bandwidth
by Joop
Hi All,
I have seen this question asked before and seen it answered but can't
find it back on either the mailinglist or IRC, probably because I don't
use the correct search term but can't dream up any new ones so I'm asking:
How to limit the amount of VM's that can simultaneously be migrated and
how to limit the bandwidth used by migrating VM's?
Looked at vdc_options, engine-config but have run out of ides.
Thanks in advance,
Joop

[Users] NIC problem with ovirt node
by Jason Keltz
I've just installed my first ovirt node using the 2.6.1 image.
I have 5 network interfaces in the machine .. ovirt sees them as:
em1, em2, em3, em4, and rename6!
That last one seems a little odd, but that's a different issue, I
guess. From dmesg..
> [ 4.650156] systemd-udevd[213]: renamed network interface eth2 to em4
> [ 4.656189] systemd-udevd[212]: renamed network interface eth0 to em3
> [ 4.662193] systemd-udevd[209]: renamed network interface eth1 to em2
> [ 4.670385] systemd-udevd[214]: Tried to rename network interface
> eth3, but the target name em2 already exists! The names that udev
> rules assign to network interfaces must be changed. Avoid names that
> collide with kernel created ones. A workaround will be attempted now,
> but this WILL BREAK in a future release! See
> https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=56929#c3
> [ 4.675179] systemd-udevd[214]: renamed network interface eth3 to
> rename6
What IS a big deal is that every time I configure one network interface,
the others go back to "unconfigured". I'm told this is because I should
only configure one on the ovirt-node, and then use the engine to
configure the rest. Okay -- does it say that somewhere that I missed?
:) but when I'm in the engine, I can click on the node, and see that
it's up. I can click on network interfaces, and see that one is up, and
the other are down. I can create networks on the engine, and I can
assign the nodes interfaces to those networks, but for the life of me, I
can't figure out where I assign an IP to the nodes interfaces!!
Surely, the place to do that would be under the "Host" tab, yet it
doesn't seem to be there...
Any help would be much appreciated.
Jason.

[Users] Unable to view console via SPICE method on EL6.
by Jason Keltz
I'm running with theEL6 release of ovirt-engine:
ovirt-engine.noarch 3.2.2-1.1.el6 @ovirt-stable
After creating a virtual machine, I cannot view the console if protocol
is set to "SPICE". If the protocol is set to VNC, I can view the
console, but it's not very convenient since I have to load a separate
VNC viewer, and enter the IP and port of the engine, and a randomly
generated password each time. How does one make console work via SPICE?
Is this a known issue because RHEL6 wouldn't have all the updated
libraries of later a later Fedora release?
Jason.

Hi everyone,
