Regarding Host QoS
by TranceWorldLogic .
Hi,
I have ethernet nic with 10Gbps link speed.
I want to setup one network over it with rate limit as 5Gbps
When I tried to enter 5000 mbps rate in host qos it throws error saying
value cannot be more than 1024.
Can some one help me to know how to set limit as 5000mbps(5gbps) rate ?
Thanks,
~Rohit

Lowering the bar for wiki contribution?
by Roy Golan
I'm getting the feeling I'm not alone in this, authoring and publishing a
wiki page isn't as used to be for long time.
I want to suggest a bit lighter workflow:
1. Everyone can merge their page - (it's a wiki)
Same as with (public and open) code, no one has the motivation to publish
a badly written
wiki page under their name. True, it can have an impact, but not as with
broken code
2. Use Page-Status marker
The author first merges the draft. Its now out there and should be updated
as time goes and its
status is DRAFT. Maintainers will come later and after review would change
the status to
PUBLISH. That could be a header in on the page:
---
page status: DRAFT/PUBLISH
---
Simple I think, and should work.

Expand Hosted-Engine Disk Space
by Adam Chesterton
Hi All,
I am encountering a situation where the hosted engine for my test setup has
run out of space. It only has 10GB configured, which was an oversight on my
part when first deploying it. All storage is Gluster replica 3 (4 volumes;
engine, vm, iso, export) and I have plenty of available space. My oVirt
version is currently at 4.1.1.
I've spent time looking for a solution to expand the disk size, but without
luck so far. Most items I've found from previous list emails are from the
3.5 days, and seem to indicate that by 3.6+ you should be able to modify
the hosted engine from within the oVirt Admin Web Console. However, when I
try to expand the hosted engine disk I get an error that the VM is not
managed by the engine, so obviously that functionality is not yet
implemented.
So, my question is; what is the current process to expand the hosted engine
disk?

GPFS Storage Domains - Live VM Migration Between LocalOnHost Only
by Douglas Duckworth
Hi
I used RHEV in the past and now that I am in a new role we're considering
oVirt.
I have a few questions:
Does oVirt support network Storage Domains using GPFS?
Does oVirt support live VM Migration of between Hosts that have
"LocalOnHost" (direct attached) Storage Domains only?
Best
Doug

Error while installing oVirt Self Hosted Engine
by Jon Bornstein
This is roughly my 10th attempt at installing some version of oVirt and I
think where I get stuck every time is with the networking aspect.
I'm simply trying to test out oVirt on an old laptop wiht 16GB RAM and an
external HDD. I'm connected via WiFi.
After failing 100 times with the regular ovirt engine, It was recommended I
try the self-hosted engine.
**
Anyway, here are the contents of my /etc/hosts file:
127.0.0.1 localhost localhost.localdomain localhost4
localhost4.localdomain4
::1 localhost localhost.localdomain localhost6
localhost6.localdomain6
10.114.13.144 host.example.rocks host
10.114.13.145 engine.example.rocks engine
**
After running hosted-engine --deploy, I get to the prompt below in which
the installer fails afterwards:
You may specify a unicast MAC address for the VM or accept a randomly
generated default [00:16:3e:5b:3a:73]:

Additional user in ovirt-node-ng 4.x
by Luca 'remix_tj' Lorenzetto
Hello,
my colleague is asking if is possible to define a certain user on our hosts.
I know that the rule is to avoid installations and changes to hosts
running ovirt-node, but in this case the user creation should have a
very minimum impact.
He's running HP uCMDB that makes an ssh connection to the host for
grabbing some system information to populate it's DB.
Is possible to create a new user? Does this user is preserved with
upgrades? Is possible also to allow this new user to run 4 (exactly 4)
commands through sudo?
Luca

Change Hosted Engine Storage Connection
by Matt .
Hi All,
What was the best way to change the storage connection for a hosted
engine ? I moved the Engine at the moment to a new storage path and I
thought I needed to extract the config package, change it and
repackage it again.
I thought this was not in the docs.
Thanks!

Hi Yaniv
I found a solution.
Our Ovirt 3.6 AIO box was still running and had those VMs still=20
configured in their pre exported and switch off state.
I removed any snap shots I found from those pre exported VMs, then=20
copied the disk image files and other bits from host01 (Ovirt v 4.1)=20
back into the Ovirt 3.6 AIO box, and were needed fixing the relevent IDs=20
to be what the Engine in the Ovirt 3.6 box expected.
The VMs then started up properly again without hassle and with the=20
latest files on the Ovirt 3.6 AIO box.
So now in the progress of rebuilding host01 with hosted-engine v4.1
Kind regards
Andrew

Hosted Engine stopped on Good Agent -> 4.1.1
by Matt .
Hi Guys,
I have moved my environment from datacenter to datacenter and it seems
that my agents are doing "strange" after it.
The engine starts but stops after being initialized and the agent.log
doesn't show any errors. This happens on 4.1.1
One of the hosts which is a HE host has been upgraded to 4.1.2 to see
what happens there and when I want to start the hosted engine there I
get:
# hosted-engine --vm-start
Unable to read vm.conf, please check ovirt-ha-agent logs
The HE storage is mounted well on the 4.1.1 host which doesn't mount
the other NFS storages, but the 4.1.2 host has all storages (NFS)
mounted which is kinda strange if you ask me.
Where should I start as this cluster has been moved earlier without any issue.
Thanks,
Matt
