Hi,
Currently, I have oVirt managing a cluster of EPYC machines. Before deploying oVirt,
though I ran a suite of benchmarks to attempt to determine whether there is a performance
benefit introduced by newer kernels, and indeed there is. The benefit is workload
dependant, but a benefit nonetheless.
Meanwhile, I have also installed the latest stable kernel from
elrepo.org on one of the
oVirt nodes to test the waters and it seems to be working, that said I'm pretty sure
this is not a supported configuration, so before applying the change to the whole cluster
I would like to know if there is an alternative/expected drawbacks to doing this.
If at all possible, I would like to retain the performance benefit while deploying a
tested and supported 4.15+ kernel, such as to not jeopardize system stability.
