Re: [Users] new wiki for ovirt-engine-cli
by Li, David
Michael,
I am interested in the ovirt-shell and I might have missed some earlier discussions. The wiki doesn't say much about how to install it. My questions are:
1. Is this part of ovirt-engine install?
2. Can it entirely replace the engine?
Do you have a 'how to get started' page?
David

[Users] installing ovirt engine on CentOS
by Elias Abacioglu
Hi,
I want to install oVirt on a one-node-CentOS.
So I found these two guides that I wanted to follow:
http://www.ovirt.org/wiki/Installing_ovirt-engine_from_rpm
http://www.ovirt.org/wiki/Installing_VDSM_from_rpm
But then I got stuck on this step:
# yum install -y ovirt-engine
The errors I received was some packages had to low version number, and some
was missing.

Is there a way to install oVirt on CentOS 6.2 or RHEL 6.2? Has it been done
with the latest stable release?
Currently I have CentOS 6.2 installed with CentOS-Base, CentOS-Updates,
CentOS-Extras and EPEL repositories installed. I would rather run CentOS
than Fedora on this Virtualization Server since CentOS feels a bit more
stable than Fedora.

Elias

[Users] Why is the interface change after host install?

Hi,
After installing a host on the engine, my original interface on the host n=

[Users] Question for data domains
by Dominic Kaiser
Hello all,
I had a question yesterday about storage domains having a permissions
denied error. Something I forgot to ask is can you use a data domain like
a master data domain? Meaning can you spin up virtual machines system
drives on a non master data domain?
Thanks,

Hi,
I wanna create rpms from the source, latest stable tarball.
[root@virtual ovirt-engine]# make rpm
tar zcf ovirt-engine-3.0.0_0001.tar.gz `git ls-files`
fatal: Not a git repository (or any of the parent directories): .git

[root@virtual ovirt-engine]# make srpm
tar zcf ovirt-engine-3.0.0_0001.tar.gz `git ls-files`
fatal: Not a git repository (or any of the parent directories): .git
tar: Cowardly refusing to create an empty archive

Problem is I did not fetch ovirt git repo.
Shouldn't tar populate the files it should tar in some other way perhaps?

Re: [Users] Can I bypass VDSM?
by Andrew Cathrow
If you still want to use the ovirt-engine then this isn't an option, but if you want to handle all the management yourself than this will work.

[Users] having problem with a storage node
by Dominic Kaiser
I am using openfiler for my baremetal storage node. It is an NFS share all
permissions are right. I currently have a master data node setup the same
way and working fine. I was trying to use this data NFS as another storage
node to create virtual disks on to run vms. I can attach fine and create
disks fine but cannot run a vm. Here is the error:
VM fs1 is down. Exit message internal error process exited while connecting

Again permissions are set fine vdsm owns them and can access and create
disks just cannot run the vm.

[Users] missing iso files?
by Joe Pruett
the docs imply that the virtio and guest tools isos should be installed
in the premade iso storage area, but nothing was setup on my install.
furthermore the files that should be in /usr/share are not there
either. is this something that isn't in ovirt, but only in rhev? or
did something mess up in my install?
