[Users] Problems with first time oVirt installation

Hi all - trying to evaluate ovirt and having real problems with getting a self contained install running. I've followed the Quickstart guide at: http://www.ovirt.org/Download word for word using a fresh CentOS 6.4 install with all updates applied on a Intel based PC with 8GB Ram and two nics. It seems to all go well but when I get into the web interface, none of the storage is initially visible, neither the ISO_DOMAIN nor the local storage. Oddly if I refresh the browser (firefox & chrome) while on the storage page the ISO_DOMAIN appears but can't be attached to a datacenter - "None Available" If I go into the host page the host is there but not finished configuring. The network setup is unfinished, the management interface is not attached to a NIC. If I attach it to the active nic (NIC 0) it throws an exception on Save. I can attach it to nic 1 but its not actually hooked up to anything. I have successfully installed and run proxmox on this pc, so don;t think there are hardware problems. On a related note - I've also been trying to test ovirt at home, which means running it on KVM (setup with virt-manager). CentOS installs fine but on reboot just goes to a black screen with the hour glass. If anyone has suggestions on how to get past that it would help my test config a lot :) Host machine is Kubuntu 13.10. Thanks, -- Lindsay

[Users] Gluster RDMA support

Hi all, I'm trying to configure a gluster storage pool over RDMA protocol. I created the volume by hand, because RDMA is disabled in the volume creation interface due to a patch ~18 months ago. After the manual creation of the volume, it displays bot protocols as being configured.. However, in the XML configuration that is generated for libvirt, ?protocol=rdma is not appended to the path. Is there some template I can edit to add that, or is it buried in the code somewhere? I cannot seem to find where the vsdm clients are getting the url for the gluster volume. [Users] Failed to start JBoss AS

Hi, I had a working engine, using 3.3.0 on Fedora 19. I rebooted my engine, and JBoss AS won't come back up. I get the attached errors from server.log. Has anyone seen this before? Any suggestions on how to recover? How I got here: I had a working Engine (mach1 F19) and Host (mach2 F19), but needed to play some musical chairs with my hardware to utilize a 3rd machine (mach3 RH6). My goal is to have mach2 become Engine, and mach3 Host. I did the following: 1. Created an NFS share on mach3, and used it as NFS Export Storage from mach2. 2. Exported my VMs and templates to the Export storage. 3. Removed mach2 from my Datacenter 4. Shut down mach1 5. Installed fresh F19 on mach2 (my old host), and installed Engine 3.3.0 on it 6. Added mach3 as Host 7. Imported my VMs and Templates from the Export Storage At this point all looked well. I rebooted mach2, but it won't come back up. I'd appreciate any insight. Thanks, Bob

Hi, My coworker is installing an All In One machine and cannot get the local vdsm node to work. The ovirtmgmt network is not assigned to the NIC after install and we cannot add it through the web interface. Hello, I've trying to move a 32bit CentOS 6.4 on VirtualBox to oVirt on Fedora 19 64bit via virt-v2v. The command I'm currently using is: virt-v2v -i libvirtxml -of qcow2 -oa sparse -o rhev -osd xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:/usr/local/ovirt/exports --network ovirtmgmt /usr1/home/williams/Downloads/OpenAthens/VMs/OpenAthensLARuntime2.2.xml The exciting bit of the XML is: <devices> <emulator>/usr/bin/qemu-kvm</emulator> <disk type='file' device='disk' snapshot='no'> <source file='/usr1/home/williams/Downloads/OpenAthens/VMs/OpenAthens_LA_Runtime_2.2.img'/> <target dev='vda' bus='virtio'/> <alias name='virtio-disk0'/> </disk> </devices> The image is a RAW (taken from the working VirtualBox install) but I have tried the original image with the same result: virtio configured, but no virtio kernel found at /usr/share/perl5/vendor_perl/Sys/VirtConvert/Converter/RedHat.pm I have looked at the code: /usr/share/perl5/vendor_perl/Sys/VirtConvert/Converter/RedHat.pm:~490 creating this and dumped the contents of the grub look up: Sys::VirtConvert::GuestfsHandle=HASH(0x433da98)< >/dev/VolGroup/lv_root< $VAR1 = bless( { 'onclose' => [ sub { "DUMMY" } ], 'g' => bless( { '_g' => 70645888, '_flags' => 0 }, 'Sys::Guestfs' ) }, 'Sys::VirtConvert::GuestfsHandle' ); If I tell the code to skip this section the result becomes: virt-v2v: Failed to find a kernel_pkg.i686 package to install Any ideas on how to solve this or what the solution might, please?
