It is my understanding that the 4.4 engine must be on Stream 8 before it can be upgraded
to oVirt version 4.5.
Is there an easy and reliable way to switch a 4.4 hosted-engine that is still using
oVirt's CentOS Linux 8 repositories over to oVirt's CentOS Stream 8 repositories?
If yes, how? Also, what would be the rollback/recovery procedure should the switchover
fail?
In brief, our engine was originally deployed using oVirt Node 4.4.3. At present, the
engine is at version 4.4.10.7. Also, all our hosts are running oVirt Node v4.4.10.2 and
are using oVirt's CentOS Stream 8 repositories.
Any help and guidance is greatly appreciated.

Hello.?! Anyone out there?
It's probably possible. I managed to get the nodes switched over from CentOS 8 to
Stream 8 without re-installing from scratch. It was a bit tricky, and I remember having
to manually re-populate the repos directory. I didn't have this problem with the
engine because I was already on RHEL 8. I strongly recommend you backup everything. With
the engine you can always take an engine backup, re-install a new VM, then restore the
engine from the backup. That is what I had to do when I moved over to EL8 from EL7.
Having said that, I was at 4.5.2; looks like 4.5.3 adds some interesting problems. OS
wants to upgrade to EL8.7, but somehow I also have centos-stream-release-8.6-1.el8.noarch
installed. The two conflict.
