[Users] Guests accessing multiple host disks in oVirt

Hi folks, I'm trying to evaluate ovrit as a possible virtualization solution for my datacenter . I need some of my VMs to have access to multiple disks installed in the host so that the RAID will be configured in the guest level, this way I can optimize redundancy and /IO performance per guest. (raid0 vs raid10 vs raid 5) - this would be similar to what EC2/Openstack call ephemeral storage. Is this possible in oVirt ? A less desirable solution would be to create different RAID arrays in the host and place VM images on different arrays, is that possible ? [Users] booting a vm on a raw file disk definated in a hook script

I want to use this single image, that is to say without importing it into ovirt with tools like v2v. acathrow told me on irc that I'd have to change the boot order in the xml, but I don't know how to proceed for many reasons: * I can't create a vm through the UI which would boot on the disk created by the hook script without first creating a disk on the relevant storage domain. If I try I have those warnings : hook: Cannot run VM without at least one bootable disk. [Users] virt-v2v: find: failed to restore initial working directory: Permission denied

Hello, I'd like to import an existing VM containing Windows XP to ovirt. However if I run virt-v2v I always get the following error: find: failed to restore initial working directory: Permission denied virt-v2v: WARNING: There is no virtio net driver available in the directory specified for this version of Windows. The guest will be configured with a rtl8139 network adapter, but no driver will be installed for it. If the rtl8139 driver is not already installed in the guest, you must install it manually after conversion. When I then import the VM into ovirt manager, I can start it and it seems to work. Can I ignore the 2 errors above? Thanks in advance. Kind regards, Patrick

[Users] convert single vmdk file to ovirt

Hello, I need to convert a single vmdk file to run on ovirt. What's the easiest and fastest way to do this? Do I need to convert it with vmware2libvirt fist and then into ovirt? I would be happy if someone could give me a hint. Thanks in advance, Patrick

[Users] Tried oVirt Guest Agent for Windows, no luck

Hello, I'm trying to install ovirt guest agent for windows in a Windows 7 from the files in ovirt-guest-agent.git. The .exe is built and the service is created, with cmdline_style='pywin32' in setup.py, but it triggers an error at start. The cryptic message when executing net start OVirtGuestAgent is: A service specific error occurred: ***. Is there a way to bring it up? I'm also having problems to get virt-viewer to connect to the node. I suppose is a problem of authentication. Tried virt-viewer --connect qemu+tcp://hostname/system?auth=sasl.digest-md5 to no avail.
