[Users] BSOD's on Server 2008 Guests
by Neil
Hi guys,
I have 3 Server 2008 guests running on my oVirt 3.1 system, if there
is an incorrect shutdown(power failure) of the entire system and
guests, or even sometimes a normal reboot of the guests, the 2008
Servers all start with blue screens and I have to reboot them multiple
times before they eventually boot into Windows as if nothing was ever
wrong. The Linux guests all behave perfectly on the system so I highly
doubt there are any hardware issues.
Does this problem sound familiar to anyone? I don't want to go ahead
and run all the latest updates and possibly risk bigger issues, unless
there is a good reason to.
These are the details of my system.
Centos 6.3 64bit on nodes and engine using dreyou repo.
ovirt-engine-3.1.0-3.8.el6.noarch
vdsm-4.10.0-0.44.14.el6.x86_64
qemu-kvm-0.12.1.2-2.295.el6_3.2.x86_64
libvirt-0.9.10-21.el6_3.5.x86_64
2x Dell R720 with Xeon E5-2620 CPU's Nodes running the guests.
An FC SAN for storage
HP Micro Server for the engine
Please shout if any other details will help.
Thanks.
Regards.
Neil Wilson.

[Users] ovirt node installation
by Mikael Bergemalm
Hi,
I'm trying to install an ovirt node using the
"ovirt-node-iso-2.5.5-0.1.fc17.iso" on a HP proliant DL360 G6 but when I
get to the graphical install page the server seems frozen and I can't
choose any options. Is there an all text-based installation I can use in
some way?

[Users] UI Plugins in nightly?
by René Koch (ovido)
Hi,
I installed oVirt engine on Fedora 18 with latest nightly RPMs and
wanted to test the UI plugins, but it seems as this feature is still not
available in nightly.
According to Oved blog post
(http://ovedou.blogspot.co.at/2012/12/ovirt-foreman-ui-plugin.html)
custom plugins should be put into: /usr/share/ovirt-engine/ui-plugins
UI plugins page on oVirt webpage
(http://www.ovirt.org/Features/UIPlugins)
proposed /usr/libexec/ovirt/webadmin/extensions as the folder for UI
plugins.
But neither of these folder does exist in my setup.
So I wanted to know if UI plugins are still not packaged and if they
will be included in final oVirt 3.2?
Thanks a lot.

above only as I was somehow able to convince it, that it was a export
domain ...
question really is - how can i re-attach the Storage domain ?? Ideally w/o
having to re-import the VMs ... although i'd accept it as a work around -
however - re-creating is out of question, it'll take me 3 days ( and my job
) ...

Hello,
tried to simulate some maintenance operations and restart the f18 server

I'm not able to connect via web

[Users] VMWare vSphere resource pools access control like feature?
by Jiri Belka
Hi,
in vSphere you can create a resource pool[1] and define to it access control
and delegation...
<quote>
Access control and delegation - When a top-level administrator makes a resource
pool available to a department-level administrator, that administrator can then
perform all virtual machine creation and management within the boundaries of the
resources to which the resource pool is entitled by the current shares,
reservation, and limit settings. Delegation is usually done in conjunction with
permissions setting
</quote>
Is it possible in oVirt? The usage here is to assing roles to a resource pool.
You could do this with different DC/cluster in oVirt, but it looks like it is
impossible if having _just_ one host (thus one DC/cluster).

Hi All,
I've just had a little check on a hyper-visor (based on Centos 6.3)
VDSM versions:
vdsm.x86_64 4.10.0-0.44.14.el6
vdsm-cli.noarch 4.10.0-0.44.14.el6
vdsm-python.x86_64 4.10.0-0.44.14.el6
vdsm-xmlrpc.noarch 4.10.0-0.44.14.el6
BUT - my concern is more that a VMs virtual memory (VSZ) allocation is much
higher than that of its configuration ?

1. in general, I like it. iiuc, you don't really need the management
network for normal work (engine would connect to host by its fqdn/ip by
default). if you do want to set a vlan/bond/SLA/roles/etc - then you
just configure it.
2. need to see how to preserve backward compatibility - i.e., bootstrap
will probably need to handle this for older engines.
3. iirc, in ovirt-node the bridge is created prior to bootstrap, which
wouldn't be needed any more.

[Users] iso domain creation error
by Jithin Raju
Hi,
I ran engine-setup for ovirt 3.1fresh installation , while configuring iso
domain i get this error:
"Should the installer configure NFS share on this server to be used as an
ISO Domain? ['yes'| 'no'] [yes] : yes
Local ISO domain path: /iso
Error: directory /iso is not empty"
my /iso is a separate ext4 filesystem which has "lost+found" directory.
I had to remove "lost+found" directory to get the iso domain created by
engine-setup.
Thanks,
Jithin
