Hello,=0A=
=0A=
we tried to migrate our first VM into the OVirt cluster. Lacking a separate=
=0A=
host for that task we simply jumped onto on of our FC19 OVirt nodes and=0A=
installed the virt-v2v packages. Converting speed ESX->NFS is less than =0A=
10 MB/sec. OUCH!=0A=
=0A=
To make sure we have no problems in our environment we reinstalled FC19 =0A=
on the node and made a direct NFS test: 450MB/sec read speed =0A=
=0A=
Inserting node into OVirt cluster once again we are down to 15MB/sec=0A=
=0A=
Could someone clarify which kind of throtteling is activated for the Host=
=0A=
and if that might be an issue for the VMS.=0A=

[Users] add NFS storage domain fails on mount timeout via ovirt
by Einav Cohen
Hi,
When trying to add an NFS Export domain via oVirt-engine, it fails on
"Problem while trying to mount target".
when checking the vdsm.log, it seems that the problem is mount time-out.
when I tried to manually run the mount command, in the exact same manner
as vdsm, it indeed failed on Connection timed out after ~3 minutes or so:
[root@localhost vdsm]# /usr/bin/mount -t nfs -o soft,nosharecache,timeo=600,retrans=6,nfsvers=3 1.2.3.4:/home/ecohen/public/export/engine/storage/195/iscsi-dc/export /rhev/data-center/mnt/11.2.3.4:_home_ecohen_public_export_engine_storage_195_iscsi-dc_export
mount.nfs: Connection timed out
but - when trying to run the mount command again, with the exact same mount
source and mount target, but without any additional parameter, it succeeded
(after ~10 seconds):
[root@localhost vdsm]# /usr/bin/mount 10.18.57.137:/home/ecohen/public/export/engine/storage/195/iscsi-dc/export /rhev/data-center/mnt/10.18.57.137:_home_ecohen_public_export_engine_storage_195_iscsi-dc_export
So I assume that I need to either configure my NFS Export folder differently,
or create the storage domain with additional parameters (using the "Advanced
Parameters" section in the GUI dialog or similar).
any pointers on what exactly should be checked / done?
many thanks in advance.

Einav

[Users] ovirt 3.3.1 all VMs boot on the same host?
by Gianluca Cecchi
Hello,
I have a cluster of 2 hosts with f19 and 3.3.1 as delivered in ovirt
stable repo.
Running kernel is 3.11.8-200.fc19.x86_64
$ rpm -q ksm libvirt qemu-kvm vdsm
package ksm is not installed
libvirt-1.0.5.7-1.fc19.x86_64
qemu-kvm-1.4.2-13.fc19.x86_64
vdsm-4.13.0-11.fc19.x86_64
Engine is another server, always with f19 and ovirt stable 3.3.1.
I have a GlusterFS DC with a cluster composed by these two hosts.
They are HP blades BL685c G1 with 64Gb of ram each and 4xOpteron CPUs,
seen by oVirt as "AMD Opteron G2" in datacenter.
I have 3 VMs in this cluster: 2 x CentOS 6.4 and 1 x CentOS 5.10.
After I put all in maintenance and then start up. I have both hosts up
and running.
I power on in sequence the 3 VMs and they start all on the same host
(the one that is not the elected SPM).
Should it be some sort of load balancing or is this situation correct/expected?
I notice ksm is not installed: could it be this one the reason in any
way? Or culd it be useful anyway to install it (I thought it was a
dependency for oVirt...)
$ rpm -qa|grep ksm
[g.cecchi ]$
BTW: if I run a live migration of CentOS 5.10 VM to the other host it
works ok without problem, so the host seems ok to me.
All 3 VMs are configured as servers and as "run on any host in cluster"
Thanks in advance,
Gianluca

[Users] [QE] oVirt 3.3.2 RC status
by Sandro Bonazzola
Hi,
we've scheduled oVirt 3.3.2 RC build on 2013-12-11 [1]
A bug tracker is available at [2] and it shows only 4 bugs still blocking the release:
Whiteboard Bug ID Summary
integration 1036209 [AIO] ssh issues
storage 1022961 Running a VM from a gluster domain uses mount instead of gluster URI
virt 1029885 cloud-init testcase does not work in engine 3.3.1
virt 1025829 sysprep floppy is not attached to Windows 2008 R2 machine - even when specifically checked in Run Once
Please provide an ETA for the above bugs.
1036209 [AIO] ssh issues: patch merged on master branch, ready to be merged (hopefully today) on 3.3 and 3.3.2 branches.
For those who want to help testing the bugs, I suggest to add yourself as QA contact for the bug and add yourself to the testing page [3].
Thanks to all which have already started testing beta release!
Maintainers should fill release notes before RC build, the page has been created here [4]

Hi,
I have created an new ovirt-engine installation running 3.3.1, and have con=
nected it to my ovirt-nodes that where connected to an ovirt-engine running=
3.1.
All my ovirt nodes shares an lun containing one volume group, and that volu=
me group have several virtual machines located on it.
I was able to connect the nodes ok,
but when I try to add the storage, it complains that its in use, I think it=
wan't to create a new volume group on the lun.
Is there an way to make ovirt-engine use the already created VG instead of =
creating a new one.
Best Regards,
Martin G=F6tlund

[Users] unable to use spice-html5 in chrome due to certificate error
by Gianluca Cecchi
Hello,
I think I have configured all ok.
Fedora 19 with stable oVirt 3.3.1
>From another fedora 19 system I'm trying to use chrome
Version 31.0.1650.63
I get a black window when using spice html5 in console options
in /var/log/messages of engine I get
Dec 7 18:51:16 tekkaman ovirt-websocket-proxy.py[22356]: 5: handler
exception: [Errno 336265225] _ssl.c:351: error:140B0009:SSL
routines:SSL_CTX_use_PrivateKey_file:PEM lib
So I think the problem has to be the configuration part of
Import CA of the engine in your browser
can anyone gives instructions for dummies to do this, please?
Then I'll put into the wiki when I'm able to use it... ;-)
I see that in engine I have under /etc/pki/ovirt-engine
lrwxrwxrwx. 1 root root 6 Feb 10 2013 apache-ca.pem -> ca.pem
-rw-r--r--. 1 root root 563 Feb 10 2013 cacert.conf
-rw-r--r--. 1 root root 505 Feb 10 2013 cacert.template
-rw-r--r--. 1 root root 384 Nov 14 12:44 cacert.template.in
-rw-r-----. 1 ovirt ovirt 4810 Feb 10 2013 ca.pem
-rw-r--r--. 1 root root 557 Feb 10 2013 cert.conf
drwxr-xr-x. 2 ovirt ovirt 4096 Nov 14 12:44 certs
-rw-r--r--. 1 root root 557 Feb 10 2013 cert.template
-rw-r--r--. 1 root root 483 Nov 14 12:44 cert.template.in
-rw-r--r--. 1 ovirt ovirt 292 Feb 10 2013 database.txt
-rw-r--r--. 1 ovirt ovirt 20 Feb 10 2013 database.txt.attr
-rw-r--r--. 1 root root 20 Feb 10 2013 database.txt.attr.old
-rw-r--r--. 1 root root 225 Feb 10 2013 database.txt.old
drwxr-xr-x. 2 root root 4096 Nov 14 12:44 keys
-rw-r--r--. 1 root root 548 Nov 14 12:44 openssl.conf
drwxr-x---. 2 ovirt ovirt 4096 Nov 14 12:44 private
drwxr-xr-x. 2 ovirt ovirt 4096 Nov 14 12:44 requests
-rw-r--r--. 1 ovirt ovirt 3 Feb 10 2013 serial.txt
-rw-r--r--. 1 root root 3 Feb 10 2013 serial.txt.old
I've tried to import ca.pem and I'm requested a password if I try to
import under certificates tab, while it seems to import if under
certification authorities tab, but I continue to get that error....
Thanks in advance,
Gianluca

[Users] Host offline due to storage error
by Ian Mordey
Hi there
I've got a 3 node oVirt 3.3.1 setup connecting to an Equallogic iSCSI SAN
array. My nodes keep going offline with these errors:
Host reports about one of the Active Storage Domains as Problematic.
Host cannot access one of the Storage Domains attached to the Data Center
<DC> Setting Host state to Non-Operational
The host is then fenced, reboots and comes back up normally.
I see some of these errors prior to the event:
2013-12-10 13:36:49,442 ERROR
[org.ovirt.engine.core.vdsbroker.vdsbroker.ListVDSCommand]
(DefaultQuartzScheduler_Worker-14) Command ListVDS execution failed.
Exception: VDSNetworkException: java.net.ConnectException: Connection

2013-12-10 13:36:49,448 WARN [org.ovirt.engine.core.vdsbroker.VdsManager]

continuing.
2013-12-10 13:36:52,490 ERROR
[org.ovirt.engine.core.vdsbroker.vdsbroker.GetCapabilitiesVDSCommand]
(DefaultQuartzScheduler_Worker-59) Command GetCapabilitiesVDS execution
failed. Exception: VDSNetworkException: java.net.ConnectException:
Connection refused
Any ideas where to look? I can't see any errors on the switches or SAN..
Thanks
Ian
