[ANN] oVirt 3.5.3 Third Release Candidate is now available for testing

The oVirt team is pleased to announce that the 3.5.3 Third Release Candidate is now available for testing as of June 5th 2015. The release candidate is available now for Fedora 20, Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.6, CentOS 6.6 (or similar) and Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.1, CentOS 7.1 (or similar). This release of oVirt includes numerous bug fixes and one CVE fix for the VENOM Vulnerability. See the release notes [1] for a list of the new features and bugs fixed. Please refer to release notes [1] for Installation / Upgrade instructions. A new oVirt Live ISO is already available as well[2]. Please note that mirrors[3] may need usually one day before being synchronized. Please refer to the release notes for known issues in this release. I mean vm internal disk space . All of VM under thin provision . If i delete files and free space from VM still ovirt stroage showing vm disk space is used . How to reclaim disk space from guest VM . ovirt vm disk space not release

I have ovirt 3.5.1 installed with VDSM 4.16.14 EL6 node and NFS as storage . In my infrastructure i have multiple instance of centos / windows vm under ovirt and once guest vm disk space is used ovirt is not release guest vm disk space after delete . Looking for help . Regards Suvro

win 2008 kvm import

hi all, i am going to migrate a production windows 2008 image that is currently running on kvm over to ovirt 3.5.2 this weekend. are there any tips, any do's and dont's i should be aware of before doing this? should i install the windows guest tools before moving over or once done? what about having to install the virtio drivers when doing and new windows vm in order to see the disks, how is this achieved with an already created kvm image? -- thanks and regards, grant pasley. --- This email has been checked for viruses by Avast antivirus software. http://www.avast.com

error starting vm - configure network

I have just installed ovirt AIO. I configure local datacenter, local storage. Created a new vm. Attached a cd. But when I want to "Run once", so I can install de OS, i get these events and the vm shuts immediately down: 2015-jun-04, 13:21 Failed to run VM debTest2 (User: admin@internal). 2015-jun-04, 13:21 Failed to run VM debTest2 on Host local_host. 2015-jun-04, 13:20 VM debTest2 is down with error. Exit message: XML error: listen network 'vdsm-ovirtmgmt' had no usable address. 2015-jun-04, 13:20 VM debTest2 was started by admin@internal (Host: local_host). I suppose I have to configure network. ovirt 3.5 vm startup

hi all, i have ovirt 3.5.2 allinone running on centos 6.6 and have noticed that when i reboot the physical host server the vm's do not start up again automatically, i have to start them manually. i have worked with kvm and vm manager to date and know where to set the auto start there, but cannot seem to find this option in ovirt? -- thanks and regards, grant pasley. --- This email has been checked for viruses by Avast antivirus software. http://www.avast.com

oVirt Engine in a container

Hey, if you are using docker or atomic, then you might be interested that you can get a fully configured and running oVirt Engine (based on CentOS and oVirt 3.5) from the docker repositories. I'm not the first one who gave it a go, Moran [also] [did] this. My work is similar to his, I just tried to leverage some enhancements which popped up in the last 6 months - mainly the integration with the `atomic` command and a simpler integration with systemd. The image is based on this [Dockerfile] and [this atomic installation script] to perform the engine setup on deployment. With the `atomic` command the usage is quite easy: atomic install fabiand/ovirt-engine-3.5 # or ADMINPW=foo atomic install fabiand/ovirt-engine-3.5 With `docker` it's a few more lines: export IMAGE=docker.io/fabiand/ovirt-engine-3.5 export NAME=ovirt-engine-3.5 # Use a transient (--rm) container to create the real the container docker run --rm -v /:/host \ -e FQDN=$(hostname) \ -e ADMINPASSWORD=${ADMINPW:-ovirt} \ -e NAME=$NAME \ -e IMAGE=$IMAGE \ $IMAGE container/atomic-install.sh After this run you can access oVirt Engine on port 80 and 443 of that host. It would be great if someone could try this - also on a different distribution than Fedora or CentOS - i.e. on Ubuntu? Gentoo? - and provide some feedback. Is it a plausible configuration?

Would you please tell me if this configuration is doable or there is something that i am missing? I would like to use only two servers (X and Y) for VDI and Gluster based storage. Hosted engine for oVirt and replicated volumes between X and Y for the gluster storage. Is a third machine Z a must?
