VDI question: How much disk space used?
by Alan Murrell
Hello,
I have a question about VDI and the use of a VM pool. Are the VMs that
are part of the pool linked clones or full clones of the pool's template VM?
Let's say my template VM has a HDD of 64GB, fully allocated. I create a
VM pool that uses that template and the pool consists of 5 VMs.
Do I need to have 64GB x 5 = 320GB of disk space available (actually
384GB, counting the template VM), or just the 64GB of the template VM +
whatever temporary space is used by each VM for the temporary changes
made while a user is using the VM?
(I hope that makes sense?)
Thanks! :-)
Regards,
Alan

libvirtd won't start on fedora 22 after ovirt installed
by Adam Verslype
After installing ovirt-hosted-engine-setup and it's dependencies on fedora
22, I can't get libvirtd to start using systemctl start libvirtd. When I
pull up the journalctl -xe output, I see a number of entries saying:
Jan 30 11:50:02 cedar.local libvirtd[1433]: Certificate
/etc/pki/vdsm/certs/vdsmcert.pem usage does not permit key encipherment
Not sure what to do here. Any help you could give would be appreciated!
Thanks,
Adam

oVirt goes to FOSDEM 2016 - the full scoop!
by Mikey Ariel
FOSDEM 2016 is just a few short weeks away, and I'm happy to share with
you the full details about our community presence at the conference.
=======
Virt & IaaS Devroom
=======
Just a reminder that the full schedule is published on the FOSDEM
website[1], and we have some great presentations from our community
members for you to learn from.
=======
oVirt/Foreman Stand
=======
This year we will share a stand with our friends from the Foreman
project. Stop by to say hello, grab swag, and enjoy some cool demos!
**STAND VOLUNTEERS WANTED**
If you're attending FOSDEM and would like to help us out, we'd love to
have you there! This is a great opportunity to chat about oVirt with
FOSDEM attendees and meet other community members from all over the world.
Special surprise swag is reserved for booth volunteers! Please sign up
for booth shifts in the etherpad[2] (lines 11-33). One of our core
contributors will also be at the booth to support and co-pilot each shift.
=======
Social Event on Saturday
=======
In previous years, we had informal social gatherings for our community
members on Saturday evening. These evenings are yet another excellent
opportunity to meet and chat with the oVirt community outside the hectic
FOSDEM venue.
This year we'd like to hold an event again if there is enough demand, so
please write your name/IRCnick/Twitter/G+/email in the etherpad[2] (line
86 and down) **by January 15**.
If there is enough interest, we will reserve a nice pub in the center of
Brussels and buy the first round :)
See you in Brussels!

ovirt-3.6 and glusterfs doc
by Bill James
I'm trying to setup a ovirt3.6.2 cluster on centos7.2 and am having
problems finding a doc that explains how to setup gluster storage for it.
If I try to create a Storage domain with storage type GlusterFS it comes
back with "General Exception".
I'm not using Hosted-engine, engine is on a separate host by its self.
I have 3 nodes, all running centos7.2.

hosted-engine migration problems on 3.6, 3.6.1, 3.6.2
by Peter
I am running oVirt 3.6.2 (original install was 3.6) hosted-engine on a couple of Centos 7.2 servers with SAS attached storage using the new FC support to connect to the LUNs.
Neither the hosted-engine storage nor the hosted-engine VM show up in the GUI. I know there have been a lot of bugs that have been fixed for this but I still can't import anything. This may be the basis of my problem.
The problem is that I can't reliably get the hosted-engine to migrate to the other head. If all VMs and HE are running on node1 and I try to put it in maintenance the VMs will migrate but the HE will not and node1 will show 1 VM remaining on the node (even though the HE VM doesn't show up in the VM list) and will not go into maintenance.
I try setting 'hosted-engine --set-maintenance --mode=local' but that doesn't always help. The output of 'hosted-engine --vm-status' eventually changes to show the local node in maintenance with score 0 but often it doesn't move. In /var/log/ovirt-hosted-engine-ha/agent.log I see
MainThread::INFO::2016-01-28 03:15:42,951::config::205::ovirt_hosted_engine_ha.agent.hosted_engine.HostedEngine.config::(refresh_local_conf_file) Trying to get a fresher copy of vm configuration from the OVF_STORE

I've restarted servers and/or processes but I'm not getting anywhere. I appreciate any help.
