hi, I am having some problems after upgrade Ovirt from 4.0 to 4.1
version. I made full reinstall of Ovirt, but it seems to be not ovirt
upgrade related problem(libvirt)
strange thing is that I am able to run any VM in headless mode without
console
and with Console(spice) it it throwing error like here
https://paste.fedoraproject.org/paste/4WZIackx7ndzv2Kg-ucybl5M1UNdIGYhyRL...
if someone knows the resolution here I will be very happy to apply it

For what it's worth I set up my bond0 manually on CentOS before
installing
ovirt hosted engine and the ovirtmgmt bridge "took over" from bond0..
But
it appears to still be working. At least I've not noticed links being
down, and "ifconfig" shows decent amount of traffic on both eno1 and
eno2.
Maybe wipe, re-install, configure it manually, and then install ovirt?

Kill a long running task in oVirt 4.0.5
by Anantha Raghava

Hi,
We are using oVirt 4.0.5. I tried to import an exported VM into the
oVirt infrastructure. The process started and from last 24 hrs, it is
still running and I am unable to kill it either.
I tried to use "stopTask" command, but host is reporting "stopTask"
command is available. How do we kill the long running task?

Thanks & Regards,
Anantha Raghava

Hosted engine Single Sign-On to VM with freeIPA not working
by Paul
This is a multipart message in MIME format.

Hi,
I am having an issue with getting SSO to work when a standard user(UserRole)
logs in to the UserPortal.
The user has permission to use only this VM, so after login the console is
automatically opened for that VM.
Problem is that it doesn't login on the VM system with the provided
credentials. Manual login at the console works without any issues.
HBAC-rule check on IPA shows access is granted. Client has SELINUX in
permissive mode and a disabled firewalld.
On the client side I do see some PAM related errors in the logs (see details
below). Extensive Google search on error 17 "Failure setting user
credentials" didn't show helpful information :-(
AFAIK this is did a pretty standard set-up, all working with RH-family
products. I would expect others to encounter this issue as well.
If someone knows any solution or has some directions to fix this it would be
greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Paul

Question about Huge Pages
by Gianluca Cecchi
Hello,
I'm testing virtualization of some Oracle servers.
I have 4.1.1 with CentOS 7.3 servers as hypervisors.
Typically on physical Oracle servers I configure huge pages for Oracle
memory areas.
In particular I disable Transparent Huge Pages, because they are known to
be in conflict with Oracle performances, both in RAC and in standalone
configurations.
In RHEL systems I configure "transparent_hugepage=never" boot parameter,
while in Oracle Linux OS uek kernels it is already disabled by default.
I notice that in CentOS 7.3, by default, transparent huge pages are
configured:
[root@ov300 ~]# cat /proc/meminfo | grep -i huge
AnonHugePages: 17006592 kB
HugePages_Total: 0
HugePages_Free: 0
HugePages_Rsvd: 0
HugePages_Surp: 0
Hugepagesize: 2048 kB
[root@ov300 ~]#
I'm going to configure a VM with 64Gb of ram and with an Oracle RDBMS that
would have 16Gb of SGA.
I suspect that I could have problems if I dont' change configuration at
hypervisor level...
What do you think about this subject?
Is there any drawback if I manually configure the hypervisors to boot with
the "transparent_hugepage=never" boot parameter?
Thanks in advance,
Gianluca

We checked the port groups, and servers are cabled correctly.
After server is rebooted, em1 is the only interface passing traffic.
Other 3 nics sitting idle. We can down each port on the switch and
confirm it is down on the server.
I am pretty sure it is related to the bridge that was created to pass
vm-host-altn traffic when the appliance was first installed.

Are you sure the switch side is all the same LACP group? Sounds like
one port may accidentally be in a separate group, and that happens to be
em1.
You might try swapping wires between em1 and another port and reboot and
see which ports come up - if all but the port with the wire formerly in
em1 come up, it points to the switch config.

LACP Bonding issue
by Bryan Sockel
Hi,
I discovered an issue with my LACP configuration and i am having trouble
figuring it out. I am running 2 Dell Powered 610's with 4 broadcomm nics.
I am trying to bond them together, however only one of the nics goes active
no mater how much traffic i push across the links.
I have spoken to my network admin, and says that the switch ports are
configured and can only see one active link on the switch.
Thanks

Depends on what you need to do. If you only want to se vms, add -r to have
readonly access.

But I have no clue about login:password ovirt uses.
I tried admin password, also tried to create new account with saslpasswd2
Which didn't work to.
Any solutions?
