help with non-standard LDAP authentication
by alan.edwards@nokia.com
I am using an LDAP configuration that either does not expose or contain a nsUniqueId value for Groups. Many of the standard schema fieldnames have been changed to contain a company prefix. I managed to update the profiles enough to have the user authentication work properly & search for the LDAP groups now. But I am unable to add the LDAP group due to the following error:
Caused by: org.postgresql.util.PSQLException: ERROR: null value in column "external_id" violates not-null constraint
Detail: Failing row contains (dad4b561-6aaa-4e7c-9887-997ba8142d3f, ADMGROUP, REALM-authz, null, null, o=BASE)
I've checked the profiles to see if I could possibly remap the nsUniqueID value for Groups (thinking of using either the gid or dn value), but I do not see how I can have a different value for groups from users. I have seen a similar thread from 3 years ago, but it appeared to have been a different cause.
Any advice or suggestions? The main goal I am attempting to achieve is to use an existing LDAP user group to control who has access to the system such that we do not have to add users manually.
Thanks,
Alan

IP change of a storage domain
by Demeter Tibor
Dear All,
I have to change an IP address of one of my storage domains.
How is safe that? There are a lot of disk what running from what and parts of some running VMs.
I thought the whole procedure like this:
- stop vms
- remove storage domain from inventory
- delete storage domain from inventory (is it needed?)
- change IP
- re-add storage domain as new to inventory
- import disks from storage domain
Need to re-add disks to VMs as new after the import? Or it will automatically?
Is it will a new storage domain in the engine or will same as?
- start vms
Please check my todo list, where I'm was wrong.
Thanks in advance,
Regards,
Tibor

Changing name and/or IP of gluster bricks
by michael@wanderingmad.com
I have an infiniband connection betweeen all three ovirt hosts. I have one gluster drive that goes over the infiniband, but the other one is running over the gigabit link. Is there an easy way to either change the host name of the bricks or change the IP to force the traffic over the infiniband?

Ovirt hosts running 4.2.3-1.el7 fail to upgrade to CentOS 7.6
by Andrea Dell'Amico
Hello all,
I tested an upgrade of one of my hypervisors. The ‘yum update’ fails because of a dependency:
——————————
---> Package nbdkit-plugin-vddk.x86_64 0:1.2.6-1.el7_6.2 will be installed
--> Processing Dependency: nbdkit(x86-64) = 1.2.6-1.el7_6.2 for package: nbdkit-plugin-vddk-1.2.6-1.el7_6.2.x86_64
--> Finished Dependency Resolution
Error: Package: nbdkit-plugin-vddk-1.2.6-1.el7_6.2.x86_64 (updates)
Requires: nbdkit(x86-64) = 1.2.6-1.el7_6.2
Available: nbdkit-1.2.6-1.el7.x86_64 (base)
nbdkit(x86-64) = 1.2.6-1.el7
Available: nbdkit-1.2.6-1.el7_6.2.x86_64 (updates)
nbdkit(x86-64) = 1.2.6-1.el7_6.2
Installing: nbdkit-1.2.7-2.el7.x86_64 (ovirt-4.2-epel)
nbdkit(x86-64) = 1.2.7-2.el7
——————————
It seems that the ovirt-epel repository has a nbdkit* version older than the CentOS updates one. Is it a known problem?
Best,
Andrea

Backup & Restore
by suporte@logicworks.pt
------=_Part_20329569_1409874801.1519819859027
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=utf-8

Hi,
I'm testing backup & restore on Ovirt 4.2.
I follow this doc https://www.ovirt.org/documentation/admin-guide/chap-Backups_and_Migration/
Try to restore to a fresh installation but always get this error message:
restore-permissions
Preparing to restore:
- Unpacking file 'back_file'
Restoring:
- Files
Provisioning PostgreSQL users/databases:
- user 'engine', database 'engine'
Restoring:
FATAL: Can't connect to database 'ovirt_engine_history'. Please see '/usr/bin/engine-backup --help'.
On the live engine I run # engine-backup --scope=all --mode=backup --file=file_name --log=log_file_name
And try to restore on a fresh installation:
# engine-backup --mode=restore --file=file_name --log=log_file_name --provision-db --restore-permissions
Any Idea?
Thanks

oVirt: access external Provider through Proxy
by Tian Xu
Hi expert,
'ovirt-image-repository' storage domain created by default in my ovirt 4.2 environment , but unfortunate my ovirt-engine and ovirt-node machines sits in a private network where it can only access external services through a HTTP proxy.
Is there a way to tell ovirt-engine the HTTP-Proxy to use ?
Thanks,
Xu
