Passing VLAN trunk to VM
by Simon Vincent
Is it possible to pass multiple VLANs to a VM (pfSense) using a single
virtual NIC? All my existing oVirt networks are setup as a single tagged
VLAN. I know this didn't used to be supported but wondered if this has
changed. My other option is to pass each VLAN as a separate NIC to the VM
however if I needed to add a new VLAN I would have to add a new interface
and reboot the VM as hot-add of NICs is not supported by pfSense.

Hosted engine : rebuild without backups ?

Hi,=0A In case of a total failure of the hosted engine VM, it is recom=
mended to recreate a new one and restore a backup. I hope it works, I wi=
ll probably have to do this very soon. But is there some kind of "plug=
and play" features, able to rebuild configuration by browsing storage d=
omains, if the restore process doesn't work ? Something like identifyi=
ng VMs and their snapshots in the subdirectories, and the guess what is=
linked to what, ... ? I have a few machines but if I have to rebuild=
all the engine setup and content, I would like to be able to identify r=
esources easily. A few times ago, I was doing some experiments with Xe=
nServer and destroyed/recreated some setup items : I ended with a lot of=
oprhan resources, and it was a mess to reattach snapshots to their resp=
ective VMs. So if oVirt is more helpful in that way ... Regards =0A=0A=

Filter engine log to get only logs shown on the "event console"
by yayo (j)
Hi all,
I want to reproduce log shown on the "event console" on my monitoring
system but I cant' find the right filter to use. I'm parsing the engine.log
on the hosted engine vm. Is the right log file to parse? There is any other
way?
Thank you

Ovirt nodes NFS connection
by Tal Bar-Or
Hello All,
I am about to deploy a new Ovirt platform, the platform will consist 4
Ovirt nodes including management, all servers nodes and storage will have
the following config:
*nodes server*
4x10G ports network cards
2x10G will be used for VM network.
2x10G will be used for storage connection
2x1Ge 1xGe for nodes management
*Storage *4x10G ports network cards
3 x10G for NFS storage mount Ovirt nodes
Now given above network configuration layout, what is best practices in
terms of nodes for storage NFS connection, throughput and path resilience
suggested to use
First option each node 2x 10G lacp and on storage side 3x10G lacp?
The second option creates 3 VLAN's assign each node on that 3 VLAN's across
2 nic, and on storage, side assigns 3 nice across 3 VLANs?
Thanks

Can't add/remove usb device to VM
by Jon bae
Hello,
I run oVirt 4.2.1, in 4.1 I added a USB device to a VM and now I wanted to
change this device to a different VM.
But I found out, that I'm not able to remove this device nor I'm able to
add any device to any VM. The device list is empty.
I found a bug report, what describe this error:
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1531847
Is there a solution for that?
The USB device is a hardware dongle and it is very impotent for us to
change this.
Any workaround is welcome!

Cannot remove VM
by Angel R. Gonzalez
Hi,
I can't edit/remove/modify a VM. Always show a message:
"Cannot remove VM. Related operation is currently in progress.
Please try again later"
I also used REST API
curl -k -u admin@internal:passwd -X DELETE
https://engine/ovirt-engine/api/vms/XXXXXXXX
and the output message is the same.
How to can execute actions over the VM, or how to remove it from Cluster?
Thanks in advance.

Can't Add Host To New Hosted Engine - "Server is already part of another cluster"
by Adam Chesterton
Hi Everyone,
I'm running a 3-host hyperconverged Gluster setup for testing (on some old
desktops), and recently the hosted engine died on me, so I have attempted
to just clean up my existing hosts, leaving Gluster configured, and
re-deploy a fresh hosted engine setup on them.
I have successfully got the first host setup and the hosted engine is
running on that host. However, when I try to add the other two hosts via
the web GUI (as I can no longer add them via CLI) I get this error: "Error
while executing action: Server XXXXX is already part of another cluster."
I've tried to find where this would still be configured on the two other
hosts, but I cannot find anywhere.
Does anyone know how I can stop these two hosts from thinking they are
still in a cluster? Or, does anyone have some information that might help,
or am I going to just have to start a fresh CentOS install?

Adam

Disk upload cancel/remove
by Alex K
Hi All,
I was trying to upload a VM disk at data storage domain using a python
script.
I did cancel the upload twice and at the third time the upload was
successful, but I see two disks from the previous attempts with status
"transferring via API" (see attached). This status of for more then 8 hours
and I cannot remove them.
Is there any way to clean them from the disks inventory?
I am using ovirt 4.1.9.1-1.el7.centos with self hosted engine on 3 nodes.
Thanx,
Alex
