Hi all, I'm experiencing random reboot on several oVirt nodes (CentOS 7/8, oVirt 4.3/4.4 as well). Sometimes it happens three times in a day, and the more hosts I'm adding to my pool, the more I noticing. The logs are not helpful: it's like a brute poweroff cause there are no entries at all in the messages, vdsm, secure (I looked all over the logs) from the last "normal" entry (user logged in/off, normal vdsm log ecc.) until the first entry of the boot. kdump is enabled and /var/crash is empty. I used to run Xen on the servers of the same provider and I didn't have all of these frequent reboots, that's why I'm not sure it is a hardware related issue. Any advice on what enables for getting more info about this crash? Thank you for your time, Francesco

after CA cert replacement, httpd is running but getting error, unable to login to the portal

I followed https://www.ovirt.org/documentation/administration_guide/ and replaced hosted engine SSL with CA approved SSL, but getting below error and not able to login to the portal PKIX path building failed: sun.security.provider.certpath.SunCertPathBuilderException: unable to find valid certification path to requested target please help me on this.. running ovirt Version 4.4.4.5-1.el8

The he_fqdn proposed for the engine VM resolves on this host - error?

hi chaps, a newcomer here. I use cockpit to deploy hosted engine and I get this error/warning message: "The he_fqdn proposed for the engine VM resolves on this host" I should mention that if I remove the IP to which FQDN resolves off that iface(plain eth no vlans) then I get this: [ ERROR ] fatal: [localhost]: FAILED! => {"changed": false, "msg": "The selected network interface is not valid"} All these errors seem bit too cryptic to me. Could you shed bit light on what is oVirt saying exactly and why it's not happy that way? many thanks, L.

oVirt 4.4.5 Fourth Release Candidate is now available for testing The oVirt Project is pleased to announce the availability of oVirt 4.4.5 Fourth Release Candidate for testing, as of February 4th, 2021. This update is the fifth in a series of stabilization updates to the 4.4 series. How to prevent hosts entering emergency mode after upgrade from oVirt 4.4.1 Note: Upgrading from 4.4.2 GA or later should not require re-doing these steps, if already performed while upgrading from 4.4.1 to 4.4.2 GA. These are only required to be done once. Due to Bug 1837864 <https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1837864> - Host enter emergency mode after upgrading to latest build If you have your root file system on a multipath device on your hosts you should be aware that after upgrading from 4.4.1 to 4.4.5 you may get your host entering emergency mode. In order to prevent this be sure to upgrade oVirt Engine first, then on your hosts: 1. Remove the current lvm filter while still on 4.4.1, or in emergency mode (if rebooted). 2. Reboot. 3. Upgrade to 4.4.5 (redeploy in case of already being on 4.4.5). 4. Run vdsm-tool config-lvm-filter to confirm there is a new filter in place. 5. Only if not using oVirt Node: - run "dracut --force --add multipath” to rebuild initramfs with the correct filter configuration 6. Reboot. Upgrade from 4.4.3 to 4.4.4 (oVirt Node) - vdsmd.service/start failed with result 'dependency'

Hi all, I have just upgraded one of my oVirt nodes from 4.4.3 to 4.4.4. After the reboot, the 4.4.4 image is correctly loaded but vdsmd is not starting due to this error: vdsmd.service: Job vdsmd.service/start failed with result 'dependency'. Looks like it has a dependency on mom-vdsm, and this as well has a dependency issue: mom-vdsm.service: Job mom-vdsm.service/start failed with result 'dependency'. After some investigation looks like mom-vdsm has a dependency on ovsdb-server, and this is the unit creating the problem: ovs-delete-transient-ports.service: Starting requested but asserts failed. Assertion failed for Open vSwitch Delete Transient Ports Failed to start Open vSwitch Database Unit. Details below: -- Unit ovsdb-server.service has begun starting up. ovirt AD issue

A while back, I had reconfigured my oVirt engine to auth based on my Samba AD server, and everything was working perfectly fine. oVirt version 4.3.10.4-1. Today, I tried to login with my account into engine and I see: server_error: The connection reader was unable to successfully complete TLS negotiation: SSLHandshakeException(sun.security.validator.ValidatorException: No trusted certificate found), ldapSDKVersion=4.0.7, revision=b28fb50058dfe2864171df2448ad2ad2b4c2ad58 I recently added a secondary domain controller with Samba, and I realize now that there is an error. Since I didn't pre-initialize samba with a TLS certificate, it generated a new CA, and certificate and key for the second server. Since I'm not using the same CA as the first server, ovirt engine (which only has the CA of the first server) won't be able to talk to the second server... no problem.... I will fix that eventually. However, when I re-ran "ovirt-engine-extension-aaa-ldap-setup", and followed the exact steps I did before, ovirt is connecting to the first server, failing with the above error, then connecting to the second server, and the same error. The CA hasn't changed for the first server, nor has the certificate/key. I verified that the CA certificate that I am giving ovirt is matching with the exact CA certificate of the first server. How can I debug further? Jason.
