This year conference community updates
by Sandro Bonazzola
Hi,
as announced we are going to have oVirt online conference coming in
September.
I would like to give usual community updates in and as part of that I'd
like to report about oVirt downstream products (such as Red Hat
Virtualization and Oracle Linux Virtualization Manager) and about companies
using oVirt.
I could just go googling and guessing by e-mail traffic on oVirt users list
but I want to try a different approach this year.
So, if you are shipping an oVirt downstream or if you're using oVirt and
you'd like to get the company nominated during the community reports please
let me know off-list.
Also I'd like to remind that oVirt site has a section dedicated to user
stories, if you want to share yours you can either push it to
https://github.com/oVirt/ovirt-site or get in touch with me off-list to get
help getting your story published.
Thanks,

About the cluster compatibility version
by tommy
From the document:
oVirt clusters have a compatibility version. The cluster compatibility
version indicates the features of oVirt supported by all of the hosts in the
cluster.
The cluster compatibility is set according to the version of the least
capable host operating system in the cluster.
I didn't quite understand the last sentence.
How can the version of the cluster be determined based on the operating
system version of the host?
Should the cluster compatibility version be determined based on the version
of the oVirt engine on the host?

About the oVirt Document
by tommy
Why don't the documents displayed on the site match the specific software
version?
Different versions have different functions, but the document does not show
the version number, which is very bad for learning.

New User not Showing in the web GUI
by louisb@ameritech.net
I've added a new user using the CLI ovirt-aaa-jdbc-tool. I've also been able to modify the attributes of the new user and list all the modifications. However the new user does ot show up in the web GUI, a password has been assigned and the user is assigned to the '*' Name Space.
What must be done to have the user show up in the web gui?
Thanks

Re: oVirt and ARM
by Sandro Bonazzola
Marko, Joey, Zhenyu, maybe worth preparing a feature proposal for oVirt
4.5.0 for aarch64 support (see https://github.com/oVirt/ovirt-site/pull/2549
as example)

cloning a template using Rest Api

What is the easiest way to clone a template using rest api. I know I can create a VM from a template then make a new template from this new VM but I would like to just clone a template directly so I can maintain different branches

Password at install for admin@internal not working
by louisb@ameritech.net
I've installed ovirt several times on a fresh machine from scratch. I've had no problems with the install however I'm unable to login via the web console using the assigned password entered at the time of the install. On the last 3 tries I've kept the password simple to insure that I was not entering the assigned password incorrectly. I continued tp get with each install the message:
Unable to log in. Verify your login information or contact the system administrator.
I've checked the install log for errors and not found any. While trying to keep the password simple I was warned about the simplicity password but decided to continue because of previous attempts were not successful. are there any addtitional log that I can view to help with this issue? Is there possibly a bug in the install process that has a work around?
Thanks

Re: CPU Compatibility Problem after Upgrading Centos 8 Stream Host
by Gunasekhar Kothapalli
The issue was with edk2-ovmf package update, rolling that package back and
it started recognizing the CPU and host coming up... tested on one host and
worked fine.

CAUTION: This message originates from an external sender.
Already trying several things, seem kernel update doesn't make this problem
happen. Already tried to yum update exclude kernel, the issue still
happened.
Thanks.

I also end up with the same problem today. How did rollback yum i see many
yum updates in the yum history.
Here is what the error says.
The host CPU does not match the Cluster CPU Type and is running in a
degraded mode. It is missing the following CPU flags: model_IvyBridge,
spec_ctrl. Please update the host CPU microcode or change the Cluster CPU
Type.
