[4.4.7] The latest guest agent needs to be installed and running on the guest

Hi list,
I have upgraded my oVirt from 4.4.4 to 4.4.7 and notice that some VMs
have issues to report the performance information via the guest agent.
I see the following message on the VMs: The latest guest agent needs to
be installed and running on the guest
The qemu-guest agent is installed on VMs (the VM OS is CentOS 8).
Any advice how to troubleshoot this?
I can see the stats will be presented in the GUI, if I migrate the VM to
a different host.

VM Disk extend not reflected in VM oS

I extended a VM disk via oVirt Manager (4.4.8) without error, but when I checked the VM (fdisk & lsblk) the size has not changed.
Any help as always would be appreciated.

Notified that Engine's certification is about to expire but no documentation to renew it

Certificate expiration

Hi,
The certificates on our oVirt stack recently expired, while all the VMs are still up, I can't put the cluster into global maintenance via ovirt-engine, or do anything via ovirt-engine for that matter. Just get event logs about cert validity.
VDSM ovirt-1.xxxxx.com command Get Host Capabilities failed: PKIX path validation failed: java.security.cert.CertPathValidatorException: validity check failed

Under Compute -> Hosts, all are status Unassigned. Default data center is status Non Responsive.
I have tried a couple of solutions to regenerate the certificates without much luck and have copied the originals back in place.

I have seen things saying running engine-setup will generate new certs, however engine doesn't think the cluster is in global maintenance so won't run that, I believe I can get around the check with `engine-setup --otopi-environment=OVESETUP_CONFIG/continueSetupOnHEVM=bool:True` but is that the right thing to do? Will it deploy the certs on to the hosts as well so things communicate properly? Looks like one is supposed to put a node into maintenance and reenroll it after doing the engine-setup, but will it even be able to put the nodes into maintenance given I can't do anything with them now?
Appreciate any ideas.

posix storage migration issue on 4.4 cluster

I currently have two clusters up and running under one engine. An old
cluster on 4.3, and a new cluster on 4.4. In addition to migrating from
4.3 to 4.4, we are also migrating from glusterfs to cephfs mounted as
POSIX storage (not cinderlib, though we may make that conversion after
moving to 4.4). I have run into a strange issue, though.
On the 4.3 cluster, migration works fine with any storage backend. On
4.4, migration works against gluster or NFS, but fails when the VM is
hosted on POSIX cephfs. Both hosts are running CentOS 8.4 and were fully
updated to oVirt 4.4.7 today, as well as fully updating the engine (all
rebooted before this test, as well).
It appears that the VM fails to start on the new host, but it's not
obvious why from the logs. Can anyone shed some light or suggest further
debugging?

Changing Cluster Compatibility Version from 4.6 to 4.7 issue

Hi!
Just uprgaded from 4.4. to 4.5. Had all the problems with this update, such as postgresql-jdbc version and with stripeCount in cli.y . But I managed it, everything works more or less.
Now I cannot raise the Cluster compatibility level. The problem is that increasing the level tries to change something in the HE configuration but cannot.
This is error massage:
Error while executing action: Cannot update cluster because the update triggered update of the VMs/Templates and it failed for the following: HostedEngine. "There was an attempt to change Hosted Engine VM values that are locked." is one of the error(s).
To fix the issue, please go to each VM/Template, edit, change the Custom Compatibility Version (or other fields changed previously in the cluster dialog) and press OK. If the save does not pass, fix the dialog validation. After successful cluster update, you can revert your Custom Compatibility Version change (or other changes). If the problem still persists, you may refer to the engine.log file for further details.
If i trying to edit HE machine without changing anything i se next error: There was an attempt to change Hosted Engine VM values that are locked/ I think this is linked issues.

Issue with oVirt 4.5 and Data Warehouse installed on a Separate Machine

It looks like the ovirt-engine-setup are looking for rpm-package 'ovirt-engine' instead of 'ovirt-engine-dwh'.

usually the upgrade of minor versions in 4.4 was just:

as it did not work, i tried the fresh installation of centos8 stream and recovery of DWH Database and configuration:

-> no luck
the last idea was fresh installation centos8 stream + fresh installation of ovirt-engine-dwh 4.5 (without recovery)
-> the same error.
the engine side works fine.
i compared the current setup logs with the installation and all the minor upgrades of ovirt-engine-dwh before 4.5
and only found the rpm-validation for the package 'ovirt-engine-dwh':

It looks like engine-setup knows it is the DWH-Server, but is trying to validate the wrong rpm package.

Import KVM VMs on individual iSCSI luns

Is it possible with oVirt to import existing VMs where the underlying storage is on raw iSCSI luns and to keep them on those luns?
The historical scenario is that we have Virtual farms in multiple sites managed by an ancient Orchestration tool that does not support modern OS's as the hypervisor.
- In each site, there are clusters of hypervisors/Hosts that have visibility to the same iSCSI luns.
- Each VM has it's own set of iscsi luns that are totally dedicated to that VM
- Each VM is using LVM to manage the disk
- Each Host has LVM filtering configured to NOT manage the VM's iscsi luns
- The VMs can be live migrated from any Hypervisor within the cluster to any other Hypervisor in that same cluster
We are attempting to bring this existing environment into oVirt without replacing the storage model.
Is there any documentation that will serve as a guide for this scenario?
In a lab environment, we have successfully
- Added 2 hypervisors (hosts) and oVirt can see their VMs as external-ovtest1 and external-ovtest2
- Removed the LVM filtering on the hosts
- Created a storage domain that is able to see the iscsi luns, but we have not yet done the 'add' of each lun
Is it possible to import these luns as raw block devices without LVM being layered on top of them?
Is it required to actually import the luns into a storage domain, or can the VM's still be imported if all luns are visible on all hosts in the cluster?
In the grand scheme of things, are we trying to do something that is not possible with oVirt?
If it is possible, we would greatly appreciate tips, pointers, links to docs etc that will help us migrate this environment to oVirt.

Upgrade from 4.2 directly to 4.5

Hello, I would like to know if I can do an oVirt upgrade directly from 4.2 to 4.5.
I don’t have a free host to upgrade the oVirt Node, so I was hoping that would be possible to fire up a new engine (with restore-backup) on the old oVirt Nodes and later on upgrade the hosts.
Is this possible?
