Hello, I want to migrate my oVirt Hypervisors to CentOS7. My strategy is to install new boxes with CentOS7 and add them to the OVirt Cluster. VM Live Backup

Dear All, One feature that I am really missing in oVirt is a foolproof (i.e., in a way that even I will be able to implement) scheduled (cron would be good) live VM backup that outputs ideally qcow2 files per disk plus an xml-configuration file that one could upload to a regular KVM host, in case that should be required. As far as I understand, that is not yet on the roadmap, correct? For my plain SOHO KVM hosts, I am using a script to do just that. While I almost never need the backups - files with a human readable text name which I know how to use on any freshly installed KVM host in case of a crash emergency -, I feel better keeping them available for some time period. Testing Ovirt 3.6

Hi, I have installed ovirt 3.6 hosted-engine on Fedora22 for test. using NFS4 as storage for the vm engine, vms, iso and export. I am using ovirt-release-master repository I have some problems 1 - the VM engine is not showing up on the webgui. 2 - I cannot start a VM after it's creation, I get an error about a failed connection to DB, in the engine's error log I have an exception about a none existant function 'gethostnetworksbycluster'. 3 - I couldn't import my old export domain 4 - I couldn't import my old vm domain. thanks in advance.

[ANN] oVirt 3.6.0 First Beta Release is now available for testing

The oVirt Project is pleased to announce the availability of the First Beta release of oVirt 3.6 for testing, as of August 4th, 2015. oVirt is an open source alternative to VMware vSphere, and provides an excellent KVM management interface for multi-node virtualization. The First Beta release is available now for Fedora 22, Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.7, CentOS Linux 6.6 (or similar) and Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.1, CentOS Linux 7.1 (or similar). The First Beta release can also be deployed on Hypervisor Hosts running Fedora 21 and Fedora 22. Experimental support for Debian 8.1 Jessie has been added too. This First Beta release of oVirt includes numerous bug fixes. See the release notes [1] for an initial list of the new features and bugs fixed. Cannot save network

Hello, I am running oVirt 3.5.1. I am running into an error when I try to save my network config: --- START ---Operation Canceled Error while executing action: ovirt-h01: Network address must be specified when using static ip --- END --- I have several logical networks defined, all of which are set with "bootproto=none"; the only logical network that has a static IP is "ovirtmgmt" I have searched the archives and Google and found same issue, but no resolution to my setup. Prereqs for Self Hosted Engine Hyper Converged Gluster Support

Hi, I am trying to follow these instructions on 3.6 alpha 3: http://www.ovirt.org/Features/Self_Hosted_Engine_Hyper_Converged_Gluster_... The 1st time I ran ovirt-hosted-engine-setup (which was unsuccessful), I saw the prompt: Do you want to configure this host for providing GlusterFS storage? (Yes, No)[No]: Now I no longer see it. Must gluster not have any peers or volumes already? Is there some other prereq that I am missing? Thanks in advance, -Mike

vhostmd

Hi, I'm running oVirt 3.5 and trying to setup vhostmd on EL7 but I'm no able to find the vdsm-hook-vhostmd for EL7, are there some reason this RPM isn't available? Having no found the hook I've tried to setup a custom disk for vhostmd but I could not figure out how to do this since it only allows to add disk devices from storage domains. Anyone setup and use vhostmd? Thank for any help/hint. Rgds, Arsène

Data Center becomes Non Responsive when I reboot a host

Hello ovirt users, I have 4 hosts with a distributed replicated 2x2 GlusterFS storage. (oVirt3.5/CentOS7) When I reboot a host (in maintenance mode and not my SPM host) my Data Center becomes "Non Responsive", my storage becomes red and inactive, and many VMs become "paused due to unknown storage error". The same happens if I administratively set ovirtmgmt network down (to a host in maintenance mode and not my SPM host) with ifconfig ovirtmgmt down. I know that management network (ovirtmgmt) is required by default and is part of oVirt monitoring process but is there anything I can do in order to reboot a host without causing this mess? self-hosted-engine Failed to establish session with host

Hi guys, I initially installed an AllinOne oVirt installation, but realised half way through that I actually need a self-hosted-engine instead, so I did an engine-cleanup and removed the database etc then ran... yum install ovirt-hosted-engine-setup hosted-engine --deploy I installed Centos 6.4 minimal on the VM then did a full yum update to 6.6 and restarted as well as disabled selinux. Everything went through perfectly and my engine is up and running, however my installation suddenly terminated when trying to add the host to the Default datacenter as follows.... [ INFO ] Engine replied: DB Up!Welcome to Health Status! Enter the name of the cluster to which you want to add the host (Default) [Default]: [ ERROR ] Cannot automatically add the host to cluster Default: Cannot add Host. Connecting to host via SSH has failed, verify that the host is reachable (IP address, routable address etc.) You may refer to the engine.log file for further details. [ ERROR ] Failed to execute stage 'Closing up': Cannot add the host to cluster Default [ INFO ] Stage: Clean up [ INFO ] Generating answer file '/var/lib/ovirt-hosted-engine-setup/answers/answers-20150804143614.conf' [ INFO ] Stage: Pre-termination [ INFO ] Stage: Termination I've attached my engine.log and my answer file. I have confirmed that both systems are able to reach each other, so I'm not sure if it's perhaps some kind of DNS related issue perhaps? Note that I'm only using host file resolution and not internal DNS names. Please could someone take a look and see if you are able to pick up anything obvious please. Thank you! Regards.
