missing vm in vm portal in statefull pool
by Роман Черкалин
Hi all,
On ovirt 4.2 I make two pools 10 and 20 VMs, 1 vm for each user, and when overall number of vm more than 15 or so, on user login and start, VM has assigned but never appears in vm portal, if try to start again this message will be displayed:
"START_POOL failed [Cannot attach VM to VM-Pool. VM-Pool is already attached to a User., Cannot attach VM to VM-Pool. VM-Pool is already attached to a User., Cannot attach VM to VM-Pool. VM-Pool is already attached to a User., Cannot attach VM to VM-Pool. VM-Pool is already attached to a User., Cannot attach VM to VM-Pool. VM-Pool is already attached to a User., Cannot attach VM to VM-Pool. VM-Pool is already attached to a User., Cannot attach VM to VM-Pool. VM-Pool is already attached to a User., Cannot attach VM to VM-Pool. VM-Pool is already attached to a User., User is already attached to maximum number of VMs from this VM-Pool.]".
Say if create one pool with 20 VM all happen again. Maybe I'm missing something?

Virtualized server & oVirt Node on different subnets
by andreil1
Hi,
I have oVirt node running on internal network, address range 192.168.0.x, and need to install virtualized server on DMZ zone 192.168.1.x.
Server has several NICs.
DMZ NIC will be connected directly to router with firewall.
What is the best solution ?
1) Undefine one NIC on CentOS host / node, and assign IP on virtualized server in passthrough mode.
2) Create 2nd oVirtmgmt bridge and link it to NIC on DMZ (if thats possible at all).
Thanks in advance.

Host has not default route
by Roberto Nunin
Hi all
I'm doing further tests deploying from scratch, with the same hardware, one
Gluster based hyperconverged LAB.
I'm deploying ovirt-node'ng with ISO image:
ovirt-node-ng-installer-ovirt-4.2-pre-2017121416.
All the process works fine, no more hangs when HE deploy is at the end.
Hosts 2 and 3 now can be imported (insted to be added).
Storage main domain is added and HE storage automatically imported.
One issue: Host 2 and 3 show me:
Host has no default route
In Host> General tab.
Moreover I'm not able to migrate HE, even if the hosted-engine --vm-status
looks good, like in the attachment.
Could the issue of "Host has no default route" blocking migrations ?
Hosts are online, all of three.
How to work around the "Host has no default route" message ?
I've seen a bug, 1477589, but no solution, till now.
Any hints ?

Ovirt with Hosted Engine and 4 Hosts
by Gabriel Stein
Hi all,
I know, that oVirt with Hosted Engine requires a replica 3 glusterfs
volume, but I'm using 4 nodes and I would like to know if is possible to
add it to the glusterfs engine volume.
Or should I always use 3, 5 and 7 hosts with hosted-engine?
What I'm doing:
gluster volume add-brick engine server1:/gluster/engine/brick1
server2:/gluster/engine/brick1 server3:/gluster/engine/brick1
server4:/gluster/engine/brick1
Error:
volume add-brick: failed: Incorrect number of bricks supplied 4 with count 3
If I'm using replica 3 will not be possible, but how can I upgrade it?
Adding 2 more nodes and upgrade to replica 5?
Thanks in Advance!
Best Regards
Gabriel Stein

Q: oVirt Node Update Wiped my Updates
by Andrei V
Hi !
I have updated today oVirt node 4.1 via yum, installed from oVirt DVD.
Update was a minor version change.
Now all software I had installed, including mc, Samba, etc. have been
lost. Looks like oVirt node is being updated with whole system 600MB
image, not just with rpms (please correct if I'm wrong here).
Keeping my manually installed software is crucial, since it has UPS and
hardware RAID monitor.
Can anyone suggest if this is normal behavior or a single glitch ?
So far I found only this instruction for node installation:
https://www.ovirt.org/documentation/install-guide/chap-oVirt_Nodes/
And it uses pre-made DVD ISO, not manual install with RHEL/CentOS DVD
and RPMs from yum repository.
Thanks in advance for any suggestion(s).

Self-Hosted engine 4.1.7 unavailable from the outside of the host
by Matteo Capuano
Hi everyone, my name’s Matteo and I’m a new oVirt user.
I’m trying to install the gluster hyperconverged solution in a lab
environment following the How-To wrote by Jason Brooks:
https://ovirt.org/blog/2017/04/up-and-running-with-ovirt-4.1-and-gluster-...
Sadly, I cannot understand how to configure the network on the self-hosted
engine and I’m unable to make it available from outside the host.
As written in the HowTo I created three hosts (ovirt-note 4.1.7) each one
with two nics, one for gluster and one for management, the network is a
static LAN with FQDN resolvable (also reverse) by a local DNS. Here the
details:
Gateway: 172.16.1.1
DNS: 172.16.1.12
Host1: 172.16.1.210 (management) – 172.16.2.210 (gluster)
Host2: 172.16.1.220 (management) – 172.16.2.220 (gluster)
Host3: 172.16.1.230 (management) – 172.16.2.230 (gluster)
Engine: 172.16.1.200
When installing the engine I choose to brigde the management’s nic
(172.16.1.210) of host1 but, once the installation is completed, I'm unable
to reach the engine from the LAN where the hosts are connected. The engine
(172.16.1.200) can ping only host1 (172.16.1.210) and only host1 can ping
the engine.
As far as my network knowledge goes, to make the engine available from the
outside of host1 I would need to use a third nic or to use some device to
associate the ip and MAC address of the engine’s nic.
I’ve looked around over the internet for a solution but every how-to I’ve
found follows the same steps of Jason’s. I’ve also already asked for help
to Jason.
Anyone could help me to solve this issue?
Thank you
Matteo

Looking at this post: http://lists.ovirt.org/pipermail/users/2017-January/079011.html
this should work.
Is this normal on centos 7.3 with oVirt installed? How can I get those values, without monitoring all VMs directly?
