Custom iptables rules usage
by Leon Goldberg 20 Mar '17

20 Mar '17

Hey, We've been wondering whether the ability to add custom iptables rules to be deployed on hosts sees any usage. Currently custom iptable rules are stored in IPTablesConfigSiteCustom and are defaulted to an empty string. We're planning to add host firewalld configuration deployment and are looking to determine whether custom rule support should be implemented as well. Thanks, Leon

Error on Adding Host
by FERNANDO FREDIANI 19 Mar '17

19 Mar '17

Hi folks. I think I have been hit by the most annoying error you can get on oVirt. I have removed a Host from Engine, re-installed it with the latest ovirt-node-ng ISO, tried to add the freshly installed Host back to Engine and got the following error: "Command returned failure code 1 during SSH session" The host has the same FQDN as before and I have cleaned the SSH from the known_hosts file in the Engine before trying to add it on the web interface. I have also tried this process with 2 different ISO files: - ovirt-node-ng-installer-ovirt-4.1-pre-2017030911.iso - ovirt-node-ng-installer-ovirt-4.1-pre-2017031104.iso And the Engine is version 4.1.1.4-1 Have searched for this error and there are a lot of people affected but not a single solution solves it. Please give some light. Thanks Fernando

Chrome and Portal Cert
by Brett Holcomb 19 Mar '17

19 Mar '17

I'm running 3.6. version of oVirt on Centos 7.2 physical server in a hosted engine configuration environment and I keep getting the untrusted site from Chrome stable current version browser. I've retrieved the cert from https://myengine/ca.crt and saved it. I then go to Chrome and Settings->Advanced->Manage Certificates and import it to trusted authorities and check all the boxes. Chrome enters it and seems happy until I go to the site the next time. My client is Fedora 24. I have checked the oVirt docs and ignoring the ones with broken links it appears I'm following the correct procedure. I assume Google Chrome is the culprit and checking on how to enter certs into Google produces many, many different ways most that are wrong. The current version forces you to the developer mode security tab to view the cert. I've done all that and restarted Chrome and still get the insecure error. If someone has successfully gotten the oVirt cert to work in Chrome on Linux (Fedora 24) I would appreciate a post on how it was done. Thanks.

Hello list, I am trying to get kickstart partitioning for node setup working, but nodectl keeps complaining: Basic storage ... OK Initialized VG ... OK Initialized Thin Pool ... I'm running hosted-engine in Centos7.3 and my hosts are running Fedora24 now with ovirt-4.1 If I try to upgrade my cluster from version 3.6 to 4.0 or 4.1 I receive an error message and can't find a solution using google. First I get the following message: All running VMs will be temporarily reconfigured to use the previous cluster compatibility version and marked pending configuration change. In order to change the cluster compatibility version of the VM to a new version, the VM needs to be manually shut down and restarted. There are 1 running VM(s) affected by this change. Issue about integrating Ovirt 4 and OSP
by Alessio Dini 17 Mar '17

17 Mar '17

Hello all, in our lab we are trying to integrate Ovirt 4 and OSP. Actually we have OSP deployed via packstack on the system called neutron.local, a single hypervisor called rhvh.local and hosted engine called rhvm.local. We correctly added neutron.local as neutron external provider. The issue we are facing is: trying to poweron a Ovirt vm with neutron network as vnic will fail with "Cannot get interface MTU on "internal-net":No such Device. Looking via openstack horizon we can see that internal-net has 1500 as MTU. We also configured the OnlyRequiredNetworksMandatoryForVdsSelection property as true on the Ovirt manager. What we are missing? Thank you all for your time Best Regards Alessio Dini

Hi, I don't know if this is the correct place for this question (i hope it is ;-) ). We are trying to make "enable USB support" work with a machine created from python ovirtsdk4 api, here is the code: cluster = ovirt.types.Cluster(id=six.binary_type(clusterId)) template = ovirt.types.Template(id=six.binary_type(templateId)) if usbType in ('native', 'legacy'): usb = ovirt.types.Usb(enabled=True, type=ovirt.types.UsbType.NATIVE if usbType == 'native' else ovirt.types.UsbType.LEGACY) else: usb = ovirt.types.Usb(enabled=False) memoryPolicy = ovirt.types.MemoryPolicy(guaranteed=guaranteedMB * 1024 * 1024) par = ovirt.types.Vm(name=name, cluster=cluster, template=template, description=comments, type=ovirt.types.VmType.DESKTOP, memory=memoryMB * 1024 * 1024, memory_policy=memoryPolicy, usb=usb) # display=display, return api.system_service().vms_service().add(par).id The cuestion is that the machines gets correctly created, but when we try to start the machine, we get an this error (extract from vdsm): Traceback (most recent call last): File "/usr/share/vdsm/virt/vm.py", line 552, in _startUnderlyingVm self._run() File "/usr/share/vdsm/virt/vm.py", line 1994, in _run self._connection.createXML(domxml, flags), File "/usr/lib/python2.7/site-packages/vdsm/libvirtconnection.py", line 123, in wrapper ret = f(*args, **kwargs) File "/usr/lib/python2.7/site-packages/vdsm/utils.py", line 941, in wrapper return func(inst, *args, **kwargs) File "/usr/lib64/python2.7/site-packages/libvirt.py", line 3784, in createXML if ret is None:raise libvirtError('virDomainCreateXML() failed', conn=self) libvirtError: Error XML: Duplicate USB controllers with index 0 The question is, that if to this machine we have created, from administration interface, remove an add support for usb, the machine works, and the generated XML differs: This is the difference we have found: < <controller index="0" model="piix3-uhci" type="usb"> < <address bus="0x00" domain="0x0000" function="0x2" slot="0x01" type="pci" /> < </controller> 40a38 > <address bus="0x00" domain="0x0000" function="0x0" slot="0x02" type="pci" /> The "<" are from the non working (created from API call), and the ">" are same machine after disabling and enabling again "usb support". Is this a bug?, if not, ¿How is supposed to be enabled USB support from API on VM Creation?, By the way, the equivalent code for oVirt 3.x was working without problems, the problems arises from 4.0 onwards. Sorry for the inconveniences, and thank in advance for any help, Adolfo Gómez
