4.3 won't upgrade engine in standalone KVM VM: low_custom_compatibility_version 'agent03'

Hi, I am running 4.2 engine in a standalone libvirt KVM VM (running on a hypervisor that is not part of the oVirt infrastructure); i.e., I am not using hosted engine but still running engine in a VM. Now 4.3 won't upgrade inside this libvirt KVM VM: Failed to execute stage 'Setup validation': Cannot upgrade the Engine due to low custom_compatibility_version for virtual machines: ['agent03']. Please edit this virtual machines, in edit VM dialog go to System->Advanced Parameters -> Custom Compatibility Version and either reset to empty (cluster default) or set a value supported by the new installation: 4.1, 4.2, 4.3. engine-setup has probably detected that it is running inside a VM: 1. Where did it get 'agent03' string from 2. Dear oVIrt, Although it should be simple, I am failing to understand the connection between Default Gateway setting and Bad Gateway issue. On which network I need to set default gateway: Our ovirtmgmt is set not to be used by Guest VMs, only Hosted-Engine. We have tenant1 network which is assigned to VM Guest instances and it has Default Gateway, working one 😊. Hi, I want to set custom vm property as shown below testme = String1:45;String2:67; I know engine-config command to run in ovirt, but not able to construct regular expresion. Please help me. engine-config -s UserDefinedVMProperties='multiq=<regex>' I tried below regex but server throw 500 error code after setting property. regex =(^[a-z_A-Z0-9]+:[0-9]+\;)+$ And even if match entire contain as string that also fine for me. If you don't have a raid controller with battery-backed cache - disable the raid in bios. Fake raids are just like software raid, use the cpu for calculations and could be a potential problem if the Motherboard dies. Software raid (controlled by mdadm) and lvm raid (sane driver but controlled from lvm) can easily be recovered on any type of linux (as long as it is not too old ofc) and do not have the minuses of the fake raid. I think the simplest way is to get a new LUN and migrate the VM disks to it. Once the 2 old LUNs are free - you can release them both. console issue after installing 3rd party certificate

Hello Everyone, I followed the instructions on installing a 3rd party certificate on hosted engine. The certificate is installed properly and in all the correct paths, everything seems to be working fine but i cannot access teh spice console, it comes up with error cannot connect to graphic server and libvirt uri:none. any advice will be greatly appreciated

I am having issue with adding network to host nic with python SDK. It works just fine using the portal GUI. Spice console very poor performance for Windows 10 vm

Hello Everyone, Maybe I am something wrong, but spice console seem to be very laggy and slow for windows 10 vms. I have tried both qxl and qxl-dod drivers, but no luck so far... As a notice, the Win 2012R2 vm console is running fine, the problem seems to only affect Windows 10. Any ideas, what should I do to sort this out ? Thank you very much ! Using a synology as an nfs storage

Hello, I'm setting up a 3 node cluster with the ovirtnode iso and a seperate server with the engine on and a synology for nfs storage. I have done my configuration and I'm able to mount the share manually on the node with a command. Also on the server with the engine on I can mount it manually. But when I want to do it through the webinterface to add a data domain it say the permissions are wrong. Any idea's on how to figure this out ? Kind regards.

network performance issues

Hello. we have installed Ovirt on HPE ProLiant XL270d Gen10. The server is installed with 2 * Intel(R) Xeon(R) Gold 6154 CPU @ 3.00GHz, 1.5T Ram, 23T Local SSD, 4 Nvidia V100 32GB GPU and 2* Mellanox Technologies MT27800 Family [ConnectX-5] The Mellanox card are 2 100Gbit DualPort each connected with a single 100Gbit port to a Mellanox 100Gbit switch which has access to a 16GByte storage server. MTU is set to 9000 for jumbo packets. Running our application on a VM created on top of the server is having lower network performance vs the host. I tried both normal ovirt network driver, using Virtual Function and PCI-passthrough moving one of the Mellanox card directly to the VM but i never get the same result as on the host. I also tried allocating the numa bush directly to the VM but it doesnt improve the results. I have a couple of iscsi targets available on two different storage platforms (Synology DS418, Lenovo DE2000H). After retrieving iscsi Target list all LUNs get automatically "connected" by "Target list scan" and shown as used on LUNs list. I can reproduce this every single time. On storage system I can also see, that all LUNs get connected by the initial scan. As a result I an unable to continue the deployment as there are no LUNs available. Is this a normal behavior? What would you suggest me to do? Thanks.

Adding a custom fence agent on 4.3.4

Hi, I'm trying to add a custom fence agent for my test deployment on hetzner. Have written a small fence_hetzner_robot script which works ok from cli and installed on every ovirt node. Then added with engine_config in this way: # engine-config -s CustomVdsFenceType="hetzner_robot" But does not show up in fence agents list under host pm configuration. I'm missing something? thanks! Matteo PS: Also tried to set up an empty param mapping, just to test # engine-config -s CustomVdsFenceOptionMapping="hetzner_robot:" but still nothing.

SPICE and VNC native

Hi, We are running ovirt 4.3. The engine is on a bare metal machine and the hosts are running on Centos 7. When installing the engine, I set it to be the webproxy. When I create a new vm, I select both SPICE+VNC. When clicking on the console I only have the option for SPICE native, not for the HTML option. For VNC I have both options and the HTML option can be selected and works. But, this is also the only option that works. VNC Native as well as SPICE Native do not work. I have tried using both remote viewer on Mac and a VNC client on a Windows machine and neither will actually open the VM. I would really also like the SPICE HTML option to exist, but it does not. The enable SPICE proxy in the Console selection is greyed out. When I open in remoteviewer (Mac) I get Unable to connect to the graphic server. Any suggestions? Kim

We using ovirt in production environment with each virtual machine with a vGpu。but serveral days later, I find several phisical server has been crash and automatic reboot。And I also found some vGpu exist with no virtual machine using. So it makes virtual machine start fail because of lacking resource.I must enter the vgpu directory and using "echo "1" >remove" to free this vGpu。With ceaselessly stop and start, the probability of its occurrence is approximately 0.1%-1%

Hi all, Happy to announce the incubation of a terraform provider[1] for oVirt which is the the result of a community effort started by ESM-MSC institute [2] and then picked up by @imjoey [3] which is now the main maintainer of the project. Terraform with an ovirt provider makes it easy to declaratively create virtualized environments. One usage we will make of it is to create an installer for OKD 4 [4] which will lay an OKD cluster on top of oVirt resources. You can attach the usb to an oVirt node and check the module in use there. Then you can try patthrough the device and check the module in use on the VM (if it's linux) or install the driver (if Windows). No. Keep the hosts with different Brand CPU in separate clusters. For example, I have 2 gluster Bricks with AMD (default cluster) and an Intel-based arbiter (Intel cluster). Hi all, I have configured a 3 nodes cluster with an Hyperconverged gluster. I have used 2 network interface bonded with one VLAN for the mgmt and an other one for the storage. When I use cockpit to deploy the hosted engine I receive this error. [ ERROR ] fatal: [localhost]: FAILED! => {"changed": false, "msg": "The host has been set in non_operational status, please check engine logs, fix accordingly and re-deploy.\n"} The ovirt version is 4.3 Someone have a similar problem?
